WELCOME! 5:55 PM October 8, 2021 ב ‘פשת ןושח‘ב חנ תשרפ Sun, Oct 17 - The completion of the Torah Academy’s First Sefer Torah - Sefer Torah Parade and Seudas Mitzvah - see back page Tue, Oct 26 - 4PM dismissal for grades 6-8B due to the faculty meeting Dear Parents, Welcome back to school. Thank you to all the parents who made the effort to attend Back To School night this week. It was very encouraging to see the turnout. The success of our talmidim and talmidos is dependent on the partnership and collaboration between the school and the home. I wish everyone Hatzlacha and Nachas! In the Parsha, the Torah relates the tragic story of Noach’s drunkenness after he was saved from the Mabul. His dignity was compromised, and his sons םש and תפיprotected him from tremendous embarrassment. Ultimately, Noach blessed them for their action, and the תוכרב were amply fulfilled. The Chofetz Chaim in ןושלה תרימש רפס, when discussing the mitzvah of ךערל תבהאו ךומכ questions why the Torah relates this story. What lesson are we meant to extrapolate? Torah is not merely a book of historical facts. Everything written within teaches critical lessons. The םייח ץפח explains that the Torah writes this entire sequence of events to demonstrate to what extent a person must go to protect someone else’s dignity and honor. The reward for doing this is tremendous הכרב. ! תבש טוג Rabbi Ochs A Rosh Chodesh brunch of bagels, cream cheese, orange juice and a snack was celebrated in the Hamilton building for 1-8 girls. Rina Cywiak delivered a D’var Torah. The girls enjoyed the exciting games that the 8th grade prepared for them. Thank you to the 8th grade G.O. and to Mrs. Blumberg, G.O. coordinator. We had several learning programs that took place last summer. Girls in grades 4-8 took up a challenge of a summer Tehillim learning. All girls who completed Sefer Tehillim in the summer received a beautiful, illustrated Sefer Tehillim. A raffle was held for a special prize. Golda Lieba Abrams was the raffle winner. Thank you Mrs. Sternfield for coordinating the program.

Bulletin Board BOSTON MARATHON Reminder: Monday, October 11 will be the running of the Boston Marathon. Commonwealth Ave. (above Chestnut Hill Ave.) and Beacon St. will be closed for the duration of the marathon. Please plan your children’s drop-off and pick up accordingly. TRAFIC SAFETY Dear Parents, please remember to follow the traffic rules and drive responsibly. Please see the letter we received from a concerned neighbor. Hi there, I live on Salisbury Road and was very concerned by the many cars I saw speeding down Salisbury and Williston Road towards your academy tonight. I was in a crosswalk with my 2 year old and had to jump back because several parents' cars raced by, cutting us off. It was really, really bad. The cars were rushing to make it to an event that likely began around 7pm. I would really appreciate it if you could reiterate that your school is within a residential zone. The speed limit is 25mph in Brookline unless otherwise stated. More broadly, I am also concerned by the parking tendencies of some of the parents during the 4pm pickup. For example, cars are often parked right at the intersection of Williston & Beacon - this makes it incredibly dangerous to turn onto Williston from Beacon because it blocks the view, which is especially terrible at a time when your students are freshly out of school and might be in the street. There are also often cars with hazard lights parked in spots that have "no parking" signs. Thanks for your attention to this essential safety concern, Your neighbor (name withheld) 10/6/21
