St Paul's Smiling Faces I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Psalm 122:1 On an average day at St Paul's you’ll find dozens of smiling faces belonging to the saints who joyfully attend church at this house of the Lord. On Wednesday afternoon you will see nearly 100 smiling faces (God Squad, confirmation and youth group) who are learning about being a follower of Jesus. There are multiple families and community groups that use our beautiful building for their meetings and celebrations who also experience the smiling faces of our people. Jesus said, For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. St Paul's baptized can confess that the Savior has been faithful to that gracious promise for all of this congregation’s 100+ years. Immanuel, which means God with us, is present each time we gather here in his name around his Word & Sacraments. Through these Means of Grace, the crucified and risen Messiah forgives our sins. By his Spirit he nurtures ongoing faith and trust in his mercy for us. It is our prayer that each time you worship at St Paul's, you leave our sanctuary reconnected to the Father and his Good Shepherd. Depart this place with your faith refreshed and your hope renewed. Depart encouraged by the sacrificial love the Son of God has for you. As we look to another Refor-mation celebration, we remind each other that we are here to continue the constantly reforming Church. As the Triune God sends you back out into a hurting, broken, and dying world, go ready to love oth-ers as Christ has loved you. Go blessed with the faith to serve the Lord with gladness. And when you are safe with God in the eternity of heaven, there you will forever behold the smiling faces of all his saints gathered in from every nation, tribe, people, and language. Peace and love, Pastor Lauri

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. All Saints Sunday is November 5, 2023 Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the rst things have passed away.’ And the one who was seated on the throne said, ‘See, I am making all things new.’ Also he said, ‘Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ Then he said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water as a gift from the spring of the water of life. Those who conquer will inherit these things, and I will be their God and they will be my children.—Revelation 21 All Saints Day is always the day that follows All Hallows Eve (Halloween). On All Saints Day we as Christians turn our back on the darkness of Halloween and celebrate the good news of our Lord Jesus who promises that death is not the end of the story. Jesus is with us in death, and there he takes us by the hand, forgives our sins, and welcomes us to new life with the Lord. On All Saints day we remember that because of Jesus’ love and forgiveness we are all simultaneously sinners and saints. Sinners in need of for-giveness, and Saints who have been redeemed and set free by Christ’s Blood. All Saints Sunday is always the Sunday closest to All Saints Day. This year it lands on November 3rd. That Sunday we will pause as a congregation to remember and give thanks for all who have died and live with Christ, especially remembering those from our congregation who have died this year. We give thanks for their lives and for the way their lives touched ours, and we trust in the promise of Christ, that wipes away our tears, gathers us in his love, and always brings us to new and eternal life. This year St Paul’s will remember: Gail Brockman, Nancy Templeman, Norma Gangestad, Mary Dee Thomas, Jack Bell, Carolyn Johnson, Jim Eden, Jim Tyler, Bruce Behrends, Janet Hoegh, Dalton Christoffersen, Beverly Gunderson, Rosemary Mally, and Chuck Westphalen
