Being an important car, it was chosen to go into the arena, while former Jaguar engineer, Martin Joyce interviewed Rob about the history of P760 NRW, and how he came to own it.Rob explained to the audience that most X300 XJRs were fitted with automatic transmission and these are stunning cars, but a few far-sighted customers ordered theirs with a Letitia’s been to Gaydon for a Jaguar Breakfast Club meet like no other. SUPERCHARGED SATURDAYOmanual gearbox and these cars can command a premium because of their rarity – only 102 were built. Many years ago, when Rob and a former Jaguar engineer, Andy Stodart were researching these cars at Jaguar Heritage, Andy came across the build records for the last one built and commented to Rob that it had an awesome specification and he wondered where it might be. Rob said he knew exactly where it was – parked outside the old GEC sheds at Browns Lane; these sheds were where the Jaguar Heritage cars were stored when not on display in the museum!P760 NRW was originally ordered for David Gower OBE (former England Cricket Team Captain), who cancelled his order when he realised the car had a manual transmission; Tony O’Keeffe, then curator of the museum, saw the chance to procure a significant car for the Jaguar Heritage Collection. In 2009 the car was transferred to Jaguar Classic Parts and used briefly by their CEO. On 12th September 2012 it was sold to Rob Jenner, having covered a mere 9200 miles and, used sparingly, it has still only covered a total of 12,247 miles. Not only is it the last manual X300 XJR built (Number 102 of 102), it is also the last manual X300 of any type built and the last manual RHD car to be built at Browns Lane, Coventry. In 2015 it won ‘Classic of the Future’ at the ‘Jaguar Cars Concours d’Elegance’ held, that year, at Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh. The panel of judges included Ian Callum (then Jaguar Design Director) and Tony O’Keeffe (former curator of the Jaguar Heritage museum).P760 NRW is one of three former Jaguar Heritage cars now in the Xclusively Jaguar Collection, the other two being a Daimler Century (P100 WKV) and an early XJ40 (E604 JJU). ■A NEW BEGINNING!My most important announcement this month is a new website address and a new email address for Xclusively Jaguar.Our website has now moved towww.xclusivelyjaguar.org.
