LeAnn Thieman is a nationally acclaimed professional speaker, author, and nurse who was “accidentally” caught upin the Vietnam Orphan Airlift in 1975. Her book, This Must Be My Brother, details her daring adventure of helping torescue 300 babies as Saigon was falling to the communists. 7 SESSIONSJulia Gentry Reinink, MBA, MSN, RN, NEA-BCAt the age of 20, Julia Reinink moved to Colorado and joined BannerNorth Colorado Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant(C.N.A.) while finishing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree atthe University of Northern Colorado. Later, she pursued her Bachelorof Science in Nursing also from the University of Northern Colorado.She progressed in her career at Banner from being C.N.A. toRegistered Nurse within inpatient Oncology then later becoming anursing leader. Julia earned her Master of Nursing Leadership, aswell as her Master of Business Administration, both from the GrandCanyon University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in OrganizationalDevelopment and Leadership from the University of Arizona GlobalCampus focusing her studies on Generation Z and engagement inthe workplace.Julia holds a Nurse Executive Administrative board certificationthrough ANCC. Julia received recognition as a Nightingale Luminaryfor Nursing Leadership in 2020. Julia has served as Chief NursingOfficer of the three Banner Health Northern Colorado hospitals overthe past 4 years. Kara Dietz-Pappas is the executive director for McKee Wellness Foundation and hasserved the organization since October 2021. Throughout her nearly 20 years in thenonprofit sector, Kara has worked for causes including animal welfare,military/veteran support, and health and human services, ranging from local tonational in scope. Prior to joining the Foundation, Kara served as Larimer HumaneSociety’s director of development and community relations, and as the organization’sinterim CEO.Kara holds a Masters of Nonprofit Management and a Doctor of Managementspecializing in nonprofit leadership. She teaches graduate studies on nonprofit topicsat CSU and has been recognized among Northern Colorado’s 40 Under Forty andNotable Women in Nonprofits. Hearts& Horses and Temple Grandin’s Equine Center at CSU are local resources. Practicing mindfulness or meditation can help improve stress, sleep, focus, relationships, andmore. Insight Timer, Calm, Headspace, Healthy Minds Program, and Smiling Minds are a fewexamples. Walking a Labyrinth is also a form of active meditation.Combining different instruments such as crystal singing bowls, gongs, and drums to triggerrelaxation and balance, countering symptoms of stress. Yoga studios often offer soundhealing classes.Physical activities that can be performed slowly while helping to quiet the mind.The practice of immersing yourself in nature in a mindful way, using your senses to benefityour physical, mental, emotional and social health.If your employer offers EAPs, these benefits can help gain access to counseling services,psychological help, and other resources.
