November 6 2020 DO AS THEY DO 4 13 PM In Parshas Vayeira Hashem declares about Avraham I love him because he commands his children and households after him In this possuk the Torah teaches us that Hashem s love for was not sourced in Avraham s passing of the and his great to serve Hashem Rather what set apart and earned him Hashem s love was his transmission of the Mesorah and the he gave his children to be The Meforshim answer that the Torah is teaching us a tremendous lesson about Chinuch Chinuch is not about Do what I say Chinuch is about Do what I do Our children recognize that our actions reflect our true beliefs which they in turn then absorb This is why the Torah writes very little of Avraham s conversations The most effective way to be mechanech children is through your own personal example This form of instruction is stronger than words If Avraham is thus considered the ultimate mechanech why do we know so little of s conversations with Wouldn t we benefit from his Chinuch techniques and examples when being mechanech our own children There is only one recorded conversation between Avraham and Yitzchak a mere eight words For this reason the uses the term The word also means follow Avraham taught by example And with this he taught his children to follow in his ways Parent Teacher Conferences on Zoom November 16 1 8 BOYS November 18 1 8 GIRLS November 23 Preschool and alternative night for middle school 6 8B 6 8G Rabbi Ochs This past Sunday 5B celebrated their Hascholas Gemara The boys were addressed first by Rabbi Ochs followed by the Philadelphia Rosh HaYeshiva Harav Shalom Kamenetsky Shlit a on Zoom Rabbi Sternfield s charge to the boys and parents was in a musical presentation Rabbi Ochs presented a Gemara to each boy The boys posed for pictures with Rabbi Ochs and Rabbi Sternfield while placing their Gemaros on the shtenders they built last week in honor of beginning Gemara Look for the pictures in this week s bulletin Thank you Rabbi Sternfield Time is flying by this week the students took their first benchmark assessment using AimsWeb They were tested in reading and math B H 2B is off to a great start They are grateful to Hashem and his messengers for helping them to be able to learn in person as they do their part to stay safe Each morning they start with davening thanking for their health and davening for a refuah shlaimah for others The boys are learning and mastering many millim that will help in the understanding of davening and Chumash The boys are up to perek tes in Parsha Noach and hope to be mesayem the parsha by Chanukah They are participating in the Konei Olam Midos Program on Loshon Tov This is something that is very important to help us stay calm these days The boys like to listen to A Life with Bitachon which helps them with Emunah and Bitachon as Hashem in not only running the USA but the entire world Thank you Rabbi Marcus In second grade general studies this year the boys will focus on different genres of writing including opinion informative narrative creative and poetry They will also be working on lots of exciting and challenging STEM projects Thank you Mrs Zenlea
