president reportVenus MartzPage 3VenusThe season of gratefulness is upon us! And this November more than any is bittersweet for me. As many of you know, I have accepted aposition with the Women’s Business Development Center. It was one of the hardest decisions to makein my career but felt it was the best choice for myself and my children. That being said, I have lovedevery second of being your Chamber president. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. This is the best Chamber there is, hands down, in the State of Missouri. Your Board of Directors careabout you, they want what’s best for your business and the North County community. I have met mybestest friends here at the Chamber – Jaime Jenkins won’t be able to get rid of me as easily as all of youas she is not just the best colleague I’ve had, but she’s become my sister and best friend… we’ve hadprofessional achievements together, and I’ve had the great joy and privilege of watching her kids growup… the Jenkins are family and will forever hold a special place in my heart. The Chamber is in goodhands because of her and because of the Board that supports our 500 members. So many events, meetings, and memories flood my mind, we survived COVID together! We won theStanley cup together! We’ve weathered virtual meetings, virtual galas, and masks together! I pray thatmore than anything, I’ve left each of you feeling seen, heard, and valued – that your business, your life, your family has mattered to me and your success is all I’ve ever wanted for you. I’ve had the honor of serving under some of the most amazing Board Chairs – Pops (MikeMoehlenkamp), Bret Berigan, Darla Behlmann, Dr. Misty Farr, Rick Dorsey, Carl Lathan, and of course,Kitty Harrison – I’ve gleaned such wisdom from each of them. North County – your kindness iswithout equal… I’ve been able to achieve and will continue to achieve, in great part because of all thegenerosity I’ve received from all of you. Thank you for allowing me to serve you for over 6 years. I wasonly the caretaker of this great organization and I know the Greater North County Chamber legacy onlyhas brighter things ahead. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; theLord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace ” ( Numbers 6:24-26 )Please be sure to attend the 2023 Nite of Stars Gala on December 1st as we honor our 2024 BusinessPerson of the Year: John Hutchens; and our 2024 Zykan Family Legacy Award winners: Bob and HollyMannecke! I leave you with this final note: “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to behonorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson
