NUTRITION Wellness is one of the core pillars of ourprogramming and many of our children arecurrently malnourished. Before our program began, many children in the areasuffered from malnutrition, sleeping hungry,underperforming and experiencing various healthcomplications. nisria is currently working to establish a sustainable foodprogram that supports local farmers and providingchildren with access to a more balanced diet.
FOOD PROGRAMOur vision is to partner with local farmers tocurate food packs such as a weekly supply ofeggs, vegetables, etc. By partnering with existing farmers that wesupported through a microfund program over theyears, we aim to both support local economy ANDto provide our families with a more nutritious andbalanced diet.
OUR GOAL$150/month for a family of 4$40/week for a family of 4 We are focusing on nutritious food - malnutrition is high amongkids in these areas. These are local vegetables that local familiesare familiar with and can easily incorporate into their diets.This covers the family's entire food needs.Our goal is to secure funding to work with local farmers to providefood baskets for 100 families in need. IMPACTHaving access to a reliable, nutritious food sourcewill allow families and children to move from a placeof surviving to thriving. Recently, when we were in Sudan, we were reminded againthat many kids are going to school in order to get breakfast- not because they are interested in education. Providing food baskets will give children the opportunity tobe interested in school for education instead of needing togo to be fed.We are currently focused on supporting families and children in Kenya, and know this program has a need togrow in other countries.
