AgendaNAVIGATING NYU’S ORGANIZATIONAL LANDSCAPE10am - 11:30am411 Lafayette, 6th FloorIn this workshop, new faculty will be introduced to the organizational landscape of NYU, with explanations of senior leadership at the institutional and school level. Then, a panel of 3-4 cluster/ECFI faculty in their second and third years will offer advice centered around the theme of “What I learned in my first year. Faculty will then be offered the opportunity to ask questions of panelists and CFA staff about frequently asked questions and early concerns that they have encountered or can anticipate encountering in their first semester.NAVIGATING NYU’S ORGANIZATIONAL LANDSCAPEPanel 4pm - 5pm; Mixer 5pm - 6:30pmTorch Club; Silverstein LoungeThe first phase of this event includes a panel with some of our established faculty who have successfully developed a collaborative scholarly profile during their time at NYU. They will discuss how they navigate co-authorship, internal collaborators, external partnerships, and grant writing, among other topics. After the panel, new faculty will be joined by other faculty members, including cluster faculty, early career faculty institute participants, and JWJ award winners for a mixer to meet and develop collaborative connections.HOW TO CONFERENCE10am - 11:30am; then, Open writing hours from 12pm - 3pm411 Lafayette, 6th FloorIn this collaborative workshop, we will discuss tips and tricks for strategizing conference participation and travel for early career faculty. We will collaborate to share effective solutions to common problems and discuss the value and meaning of conference presentations, travel, and service in the early years of the academic career. Finally, we will discuss conference funding opportunities within NYU.
