Tēnā koutou e te whānau whānui o Peria School, ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa! What an incredible experience our 2025 camp at Lonsdale Park was! A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic students who made this camp such a memorable adventure. Your teamwork, resilience, and positive energy truly embodied our school values. We also thank Garth Hutchinson and his son Vinnie for coming along to take our students (and parents) surfing. I am sure the teachers have plenty to share about camp below. My favourite part of camp was seeing each and every student shine in their own way, whether it was physically, by taking on challenges like surfing or the waterslide; mentally, by showing resilience when trying something new or being brave when their parents went home; or socially, by playing with someone they didn’t know or helping others when they got stuck. It was a beautiful reminder of how fortunate I am to be the Tumuaki of this kura. Congratulations to all students who participated in our school swimming sports and who did so well at the Eastern Zone Swimming Sports. Well done to Honoria who came 1st in backstroke and Danielle and Kaia who came 3rd in breaststroke in their respective age groups. These students will head off to the Far north zone to represent us all. Attendance does matter and when we work together to make coming to school a priority we CAN make a real and lasting difference! Our Target is at least 90% of students attending 90% of the time! We got this whānau! Peria School Principal’s korero

Kia ora koutou e te whanau. OMG what an amazing camp we have just experienced together. Our tamariki bringing to life our current kaupapa of Kia Kaha, Kia Māia, Kia Whakamanawanui (be strong, be brave, be determined). Our youngest learners, Te Puna shining alongside our eldest learners, Te Rangi, giving everything a go and pushing through the challenges they faced. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing tamariki working together, encouraging and supporting one another to achieve success, and our Lonsdale 2025 camp was full of exactly this from beginning to end. Camp is such a special time, and it brings our whole school together. Everywhere I looked there was a whanau member there ready to help and support our tamariki and us as Kaiako, we honestly couldn’t do this without you, and we appreciated each and every one of you. We laughed, we ate, we climbed, we jumped, we applauded, we laughed a bit more and then got up and did it all again. Te Puna my littlest friends, you are such an amazing bunch of kids and I feel like I have a new understanding of each and every one of you. Getting to know you and your whanau in a way that we just can’t do inside the classroom. Your enthusiasm for life and willingness to participate in whatever was in front of you with grit and determination is infectious and admirable. I am so happy to be your Kaiako and am really looking forward to the rest of 2025. Thanks again for an awesome camp Team Peria. Nga Mihi Nui Whaea Beks rebekah@peria.school.nz Te Puna

hg Kia ora e te whānau, Wow, what an incredible time we had at Lonsdale Camp! Our tamariki embraced every challenge with courage (Whakamanawanui), built strong relationships through whakawhanaungatanga, and worked together as a team (kotahitanga). From surfing to hiking, and bush activities, our tamariki stepped outside their comfort zones, showed resilience, and created memories that will last a lifetime. A massive ngā mihi nui to our whānau who supported us—whether it was supervising, feeding our tamariki, organizing activities, or sacrificing a good night's sleep (we see you!). We couldn't have done it without your aroha and dedication. On the final day of camp, our amazing swimmers dug deep, despite their exhaustion, to represent our kura at the Eastern Zone Swimming Sports. They showcased not only their talent but also their resilience and determination. We are so proud of all our competitors: Saskia Hibbard-Kelly Kaia Jakicevich Dallas McQueen Toby Coogan Lennox Tua Noah Putensen Alba Shattock Elise Baker Danielle Maria Honoria Parkinson Ka mau te wehi!
