03WHY SUPPORTBLACK WOMENAND GIRLS?Black women vote at a comparatively higher rate than any other segment of the population.Black women are affected by both the racial and gender pay gap. In fact, Black women arepaid only 67 cents on the dollar relative to white, non-Hispanic men, even after consideringeducation, labor force participation and years of experience. Black women face significant health disparities compared to other racial and ethnic groups. These disparities are complex and influenced by many factors including discrimination, chronic diseases, higher rates of depression, poverty, and a lack of access to affordablehousing, culturally competent health care and quality education.Black women are a culturally competent voice advocating for the wellness of Black womenand girls in Delaware through research, leadership, and action.Through groundbreaking 21st century initiatives, NC100BW-DE members and the publicgain valuable information to guide our advocacy, action agenda, and community service.
