Age Divisions Our experienced panel of judges scores contestants in the following categoriesfor the title of National American Miss & National All-American Miss for each age division:• Resume 15% • Poise and Presentation in Formal Wear 25% • Personality During an Interview 25% • On-Stage Personal Introduction 25% • Community Service Project 10%At National American Miss, we passionately believe that excellent judging is the backbone of an outstanding pageant. For 22 years now, in keeping with that passion, we have brought in the very best selection of judges to be found anywhere in pageantry - bar none. We spend upwards of $100,000 annually on judges’ ights and accommodations throughout Nationals. Our judges are selected, vetted, and trained by our International Judges Operation Coordinator. They come from across the globe, are highly qualied, and are thrilled to be a part of one of pageantry’s most iconic competitions. To help protect against any bias, we do not allow judges who have judged at a NAM State Pageant to judge for NAM/AA Nationals within the same season. Our AA/NAM Nationals Selection Panels will be comprised of between 6-9 judges who will follow contestants through all phases of the competition: Formal Wear, Personal Introduction, Interview, and Finale. Each division will also have a separate panel of judges who will see them during Optional Contests. These judges have no bearing on the overall pageant results. Similarly, the overall judges will not have any involvement or awareness of a contestants’ performance in the Optional Contests.Miss (19-24) Teen (16-18) Jr. Teen (13-15) Pre-Teen (10-12) Jr. Pre-Teen (7-9) Princess (4-6)Now about the competitions...Resume - 15% Resume counts for 15% of your required competition score. As you undoubtedly know by now, National American Miss believes that each activity we provide should not only be fun, but also provide experiences that help equip you for life. We are taking the next step in providing those real-life skill experiences.Prior to the pageant, the national pageant ofce will be providing you with a link by which you will download the resume template for your age division. Resumes used at the national pageant must be prepared from this template and must follow the guidelines shown on the template. Ideally, preparing a resume is not a one-time thing. It is a process. A resume is something that you will want to have on le, on your computer at home, and continue to build and develop over the years. If you already have been cultivating a resume, good for you! If you do not yet have one, then it is never too early to start, no matter what your age.Similar to the Community Service portion of the Required Competition, the scoring of your resume is one in which you will receive the full 15% score credit for following some simple guidelines in preparing your resume. Notably, this score is completely separate from the “Best Resume” contest. We fully expect that every competitor will achieve the full 15% of this score. Whether your goal is to one day apply for college admission, apply for a student leadership position at your school, or apply for employment, you will be one crucial step closer to success by having built a resume along the way.Formal Wear - 25% Formal Wear counts for 25% of your Required Competition score. Every contestant will be individually introduced on stage, with all the lights, sounds and excitement of a grand presentation! Contestants are scored on their poise and presentation on stage in formal wear. The judges are looking for a representative that is proud and comfortable with who she is and how she presents herself on stage. Scores are based on the judges’ overall impressions and the contestant’s ability to command both the judges’ and the audience’s attention in a poised, graceful, and professional manner.Choose a dress that reects your unique personality. The color and style are your choice (see page 26 for more details). The dress should help you feel condent and excited about the special person that you are! Keep in mind that one of the hallmarks of National American Miss is “age-appropriate.” While that perception may vary with every participant and every person’s individual point of view, please keep in mind that if there is a question in your mind prior to the event as to whether a given dress on you is stepping over the line, be aware that one or more judges may well have that same concern, and you may lose valuable score points from one or more judges. As you are introduced on stage, all age divisions except for Miss will be escorted. All national contestants must provide their own escorts. Your father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, or any friend may escort you on stage. This is such a great way to involve your family members in the national pageant experience. Escorts at the national pageant must be dressed in appropriate formal attire. Formal military uniforms are also super!NEW FOR THE MISS AGE DIVISION! Escorts will NOT be used for the Formal Wear competition in the Miss Age Division at Nationals, just like at State. 24Version 12 Updated October 22, 2024

Page 27

Personal Introduction - 25% Personal Introduction counts for 25% of your Required Competition score. Public speaking is a skill admired by all, and during this competition, you will learn how to speak effectively using a microphone and how to condently and professionally present yourself on stage. Through this competition, you will take home the valuable experience of introducing yourself and communicating to a live audience. Contestants will introduce themselves on stage, saying their: • name • hometown • state • future aspirations and/or something interesting about themselvesContestants are scored on their ability to clearly, condently, and effectively deliver a message on stage to the audience. The judges are looking for a representative who naturally conveys her own unique personality through her effective and engaging public speaking skills and naturally assured stage presence.60-second time limit. Good news! No longer do you have to worry about whether you should prepare and memorize a super-long Personal Introduction. Over the years, many girls have done so, often with disappointing results. So, there will be a 60-second time limit for Personal Introduction at Nationals. For your comfort and condence, we recommend that you design your Personal Introduction to not be near in length to 60 seconds. Why have the additional burden of worrying about keeping it just under 60 seconds? Give yourself some cushion.Tip: The average great Personal Introduction is often between 25 and 45 seconds. Please be aware that the longer a Personal Introduction is, the greater the probability for making mistakes. Plus, a very long introduction has the potential to seem insincere and may lose the interest of the audience and/or judges. Interview - 25% Interview counts for 25% of your Required Competition score. You will take home essential interviewing skills, such as making good eye contact, communicating condently, and sitting properly as you will talk one-on-one with each of the interview judges. This is when you can really let your personality shine through. It is our goal to use this experience to equip each participant with valuable job interview skills. In a very real way, you are interviewing for the “job” of representing not only your state, but your country. Just like you, the judges would like for the new national representatives to be girls who are friendly, naturally enthusiastic, and effective communicators. Each judge wants you to do well. Their goal is to learn more about you, your ambitions, and your personality. They are looking for a representative who can engage in fun, intelligent conversation with an adult. They will not trick you or ask you questions having a right or wrong answer (for example, they will not ask you to “name the governor of your state”). Community Service Project - 10% The Community Service Project counts for 10% of your Required Competition score. A full 10% of your pageant score will be automatically awarded to you when you show record of having completed at least 4 hours of community service at a local, area, or statewide service organization. There are a lot of great charities and service organizations to which you can give your time. For example, you could play board games with the elderly at a local nursing home, volunteer to help organizations such as “Race For The Cure,” visit children in a community hospital, or clean up a local park. Volunteering your time is fun, and you’ll be glad you did! As part of our green initiative, and to make the process easier, we have done away with the paper forms for this project! By November 12, all contestants will need to upload the documentation of their 4 or more hours of community service to NAMnationals.com. As part of your submission, you will need to upload a scanned letter of conrmation that you obtain from the organization’s manager–We want to hear about all the fun you had helping others! Remember to take pictures of yourself as you perform your community service and wear your banner. Crowns are now optional, even somewhat discouraged, when making public appearances for community service. We want the emphasis to be on serving, and sometimes crowns can get in the way of projecting that image of service. All entries will be considered for inclusion on the NAM websites, so please keep that in mind as you select your photos and materials to upload.DON’T FORGET! All Community Service Project participants are automatically entered in the Golden Achievement in Service Award contest for FREE. 25Be creative in your Introduction. Be proud of who you are! Always be sincere in your Introduction and don’t forget to look at the judges and audience. Eye contact is very important!Miss (19-24) Teen (16-18) Jr. Teen (13-15) Pre-Teen (10-12) Jr. Pre-Teen (7-9) Princess (4-6)Version 12 Updated October 22, 2024

While we allow age-appropriate makeup for our Senior Divisions (Jr. Teen, Teen, and Miss), we do not believe it should be worn by our Junior Division contestants (Princess, Jr. Pre-Teen, and Pre-Teen delegates). We do instruct our judges that, if they notice makeup on our Junior Division contestants, they may take that into account during their scoring. Judges will be instructed to make a deduction from a girl’s score for each and every event during which this rule is violated.Helpful Hints to Dress Your Best: • It’s important that you look and feel your very best at the pageant. Remember you will do your best when you are in a dress that makes you feel like a winner. Wear a dress you are comfortable moving around in and one that makes you feel condent on stage. • Be true to yourself. Don’t try to be something that you are not. Whether you are outdoorsy or poetic, athletic or fancy, choose a dress that will reect your personality and sense of style. • When deciding on a color for your dress, ask yourself, “What does this color say about me and my personality?” There is not a perfect pageant dress color, so pick your personal favorite and one that complements your eyes, hair, and skin tone. Most importantly, choose the color that makes you feel condent and special.

Interview and Personal Introduction OuttA Note About Body Piercings and Tattoos:Keep in mind that you are presenting yourself for the “job” of national queen. Body piercings and tattoos, while becoming more socially acceptable, may be viewed differently by each of the pageant judges. You should approach the competition as someone who is preparing for a professional position and let that be the guide for your actions, attire, and attitude. Scores may reect a judge’s attitude or opinion of noticeable tattoos and body piercings. Princess, Jr. Pre-Teen & Pre-Teen: • Select an outt you would wear to a professional job interview. • No hats, gloves or purses. • Shoes should complement the outt. Make sure that you can walk condently, smoothly, and safely in them. Jr. Teen, Teen & Miss: • Select an outt you would wear to a professional job interview. • No hats, gloves, or purses. • Shoes should complement the outt. Make sure that you can walk condently, smoothly, and safely in them.27Version 12 Updated October 22, 2024

Shorts, pants, rompers, skirts, trendy jeans, and dresses are some examples of clothing you may wear for this event. Your outt can have a theme: back-to-school, sports-related, or other themed outts. This is a Casual Wear contest, not a Formal Wear competition. Sequins, rhinestones, and beads are ne if used in a way you would normally see them on trendy, off-the-rack apparel, just don’t make them the centerpiece of your outt. Makeup: Age-appropriate makeup may be worn by our Senior Division (Jr. Teen, Teen, and Miss) delegates. All Junior Divisions (Princess, Jr. Pre-Teen, and Pre-Teen) are allowed to wear makeup during this optional competition if they would like to. While props are allowed, they need to be modeled as accessories to the overall outt theme. Custom-designed, glitzy modeling outts can be over the top and are not appropriate for this contest. Swimsuits are not allowed. Keep in mind that the “setting” for this contest is an upscale department store fashion show. The pageant emcee will narrate as you perform your routine. You will have approximately 30 seconds to model your fashionable ensemble. Music: The pageant will provide upbeat music with a fun, steady beat for your freestyle walk on the runway. You will not be permitted to provide your own music. The Pageant DJ will operate the sound levels, and the narration will be provided by the pageant emcee. Time Limit: You will have approximately 30 seconds to model your fashionable ensemble. Just as you would at a fashion show, follow the lead of the emcee as she introduces you, features your outt, and then closes the presentation. Format: Use freestyle modeling with turns and walks to reect your own personal style. At the end of your routine, you will exit the side of the stage. You will be shown where to enter and exit the stage before your contest begins. You Bring: You will bring the outt of your choice. Also, bring the Casual Wear ModelingSM Card that you will receive prior to Pageant Check-In. The card will be used by the emcee for narration. Your contestant number will be announced; then, you will take the runway and perform a choreographed routine given to you prior to the competition. Attire: One of the most exciting parts about the Runway Model SearchSM is that you get to model the outt of your choice! This is your chance to pick the outt that you have dreamed of wearing, as you take to the runway. This should be a fun, fashionable outt that you want to sell to the judges and audience. Your outt can be a cocktail dress, a stylish high-low, or even a fashionable romper. Make sure that your outt is trendy but also age-appropriate. Try to stay away from a themed outt. Something to keep in mind is that the scouts are evaluating each candidate for real-world modeling opportunities. They want to be able to see what you can do, in an authentic setting, to model clothing; this is not about the clothing modeling you. Accessories such as jackets, hats, headbands, and scarves are permitted, but avoid sporty-themed looks. Your look should be trendy, fun and fashion-forward. This makeup should be natural and age-appropriate, meant to only pop the contestant’s features under the bright stage lighting. Heavy contouring and excessive eye makeup are not appropriate for our Junior Divisions during any event. Contestants are also not permitted to wear fake lashes in the Junior Divisions during any event.Rules: No swimsuits are allowed. Full-length evening dresses or gowns are allowed. No props are permitted on stage at any time. No matter which age division you are in, be sure that you wear shoes you can safely and condently walk in. Practice walking in your shoes at home. Tips: Princess, Jr. Pre-Teen, and Pre-Teen: Your look of choice can be a party dress, cocktail dress, or even a one-piece romper. Again, you want to keep this age-appropriate. A Sunday dress or a fun petti skirt would be great for this contest. No bare midriffs are allowed. Stay away from platform shoes that are hard to walk in. Tips: Jr. Teen, Teen, and Miss: Your runway outt can be a cocktail dress, a fabulous after-5 look, or anything age-appropriate that you want to show off. Bare midriffs are allowed but should also be age-appropriate and tasteful. Make sure you are comfortable in your shoes.52Version 12 Updated October 22, 2024

Version 4 Updated September 3, 2024 GOLDEN ACHIEVEMENT IN SERVICEAs you know, participation in the Community Service portion of the pageant is required for all contestants who are competing for the National American Miss or National All-American Miss titles. All entries that are successfully submitted and that follow the rules will automatically receive the full 10% toward their overall pageant score.By November 12, all contestants in the National American Miss and the National All-American Miss pageants are required to report their 4 or more hours of service by uploading documentation to our secure site: www.pageant-powerhouse.com. After creating an account, submit your documentation by clicking on ‘NAM Nationals Resources & Links’ to reveal a drop down. Community Involvement/Golden Achievement is second to last on that drop down. You will then be prompted to select your contestant and then 2024 Nationals. This will generate your custom submission form. Your submission should describe ONE Community Service Project. While you may have been involved in various projects and/or organizations, we want you to select the ONE project or organization that you would like to feature. Recycling, Susan G. Komen Run, Ronald McDonald House, Book Drives, sending care packs to US servicepersons, volunteering at your favorite charity; these are just some of the examples of ways you can get involved in service. As a bonus, each submission uploaded by November 12 will be considered for the Golden Achievement in Service Award! This prestigious award is based on one featured service project you have per-formed (without compensation) to help others or to improve your community. We want to know more about what has inspired you to help others! We will be featuring the winning entry from each age group, plus other selected entries, in The iam Dream Magazine so that we can share the great news of what National American Miss contestants are doing! EVERY Nationals contestant who uploads documentation of her communi-ty service project to our secure site is automatically entered in the GOLDEN ACHIEVEMENT IN SERVICE AWARD Contest. There is no entry fee.The minimum requirements are that you upload the following: • Brief Project Description. This should be just a sentence or two. • Full Project Description. This is a detailed description. It is not to exceed 300 words for the Pre-Teen, Junior Teen, Teen, and Miss divisions and 150 words for the Princess and Jr. Pre-Teen divisions. • A letter of validation. The letter should be from the project manager, verifying your service. Scan the letter and upload it as instructed on our webpage. To more fully honor your project, you may upload: • One or more actual photo(s) of your project and/or you serving in your project. If you have a National American Miss banner, you can wear that while doing your service. Crowns are optional; however, we discourage wearing them when participating in community service, as they can sometimes interfere with the message of service. Note: Wearing a crown and/or banner in photos, or video, will not affect your scoring for this award. Follow the instructions shown on our upload site for naming the photos prior to upload. • A link to video(s) about your project and/or you serving in your project. You may choose to upload your video to a site, such as YouTube. When you do, copy and paste the link into the place indicated on our page. • Additional letters of commendation and/or other uploadable items you feel will help in the contest.
