DID YOU KNOW 339 110 100 The Congregational Foundation Endowment contributed 110 100 to the NACCC in support of member Attendees at the church Annual Meeting services Conference together with our youth came together to pack 20 520 meals to help feed God s people in Malawi The NACCC is made up of 339 member churches 36 Member churches are located in 36 states throughout the Country 299 20 520 The NACCC is supported by 299 qualified and motivated volunteers 603 Donations from 603 individuals foundations associations and other non member churches were contributed to the NACCC and Congregational 8 NACCC Foundation member 239 8 The 2017 Annual Meeting and Conference held in Demorest Georgia was attended by 239 individuals 138 471 138 471 was donated for One Great Hour of Sharing a NACCC program that raises Contributions and funds to assist missions member financial assistance churches and communities was provided to 25 struck by disasters Partner and Recommended National and International Missions 2 NACCC Annual Report 2018 www naccc org 25 churches called ministers to the pulpit through the pastoral search program while 40 churches are at different stages in the process NACCC member churches ordained 6 ministers 6 Cover photo by Corey James

FROM OUR LEADERSHIP Dear Friends of the NACCC and the Congregational Way T he National Association of Congregational Christian Churches NACCC serves as a link between our member churches and also as a resource to help you our member churches serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul To achieve these purposes requires an ongoing evaluation and analysis of programs and decisions Sometimes the NACCC may have to alter course Sometimes we affirm and follow decisions made in the past Always though the desire of the NACCC is to be in the position to provide the best possible help to our member churches at all times In last year s Annual Report we shared with you several things that were being worked on to help our member churches One project that has taken priority is examining the future of the Center for Congregational Leadership CCL The CCL will continue Based on several factors though the administrative work of the CCL will now be based in the Oak Creek office This summer a new part time position responsible for coordinating workshops offered by the Center and recording them to allow access for all of our member churches will be hired One other major endeavor in the years to come will be to bring the Oak Creek building up to par with much needed and long deferred upkeep and maintenance Work on the Oak Creek building should start by the time of the 2018 Annual Meeting Committed to the future of Congregationalism and recognizing the imperative to raise up the next generation we are pleased to announce the implementation of the Ministry Council Intern MCI program We currently have four college aged young people serving as MCIs on our three ministry councils The Nominating Committee has for the second year in a row identified a gifted list of nominees new to our leadership team All of these people are fully engaged open to new opportunities and share a unified vision for the work of the NACCC It is our privilege to join with you as we walk in all his ways love him serve the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul It is good to come together dedicated to serving God and advancing the Congregational Way Laura Hamby Moderator Rev Dr Michael Chittum Executive Director what does the Lord your God require of you Only to revere the Lord your God to walk in all his ways to love him to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul Deuteronomy 10 12 NACCC Annual Report 2018 www naccc org 3

MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARDS Dear Member Churches Dear Members and Friends of the NACCC O T n your behalf the Board of Directors BoD has been working in our capacity as the governing board in all NACCC legal and financial matters Our significant accomplishments this year included taking the prudent step of lowering the drawdown rate from 5 to 4 1 2 from the NACCC s endowments making the decision not to sell our headquarters building in Oak Creek WI and beginning the process of making the necessary repairs required in order to remain in the building approving the Leadership Council s recommendation to move the Center for Congregational Leadership from Olivet MI to Oak Creek WI and approving Portland ME as the site for the 2020 Annual Meeting and Conference the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims It has been a pleasure working with other members of the BoD the Leadership Council the Board of Governors and the entire staff of the NACCC Thank you for this opportunity James Waechter Vice Moderator Chairman of the Board of Directors he role of the Board of Governors BoG is to oversee the work of the Congregational Foundation CF which provides fund development planning and communications in support of the work of the NACCC The BoG has the fiduciary responsibility to ensure that all donor gifts and current invested funds are managed well and allocated in accordance with donor s wishes Through the generosity of our donors the CF endowment distribution to the NACCC this year was 110 100 The BoG along with the NACCC Development and Communications staff Debby Fulton and Tracy Bernhardt focused their efforts on improving and expanding communication to our stakeholders The Case for Support is completed and ready to share with our leadership at June s Annual Meeting Conference Additionally the BoG is reviewing all funds and Endowments determining legal constraints working with donors and understanding the application of funds in order to both consolidate and communicate their pedigrees The BoG will continue to improve our messaging to donors working to encourage targeted donor contributions specific to NACCC needs We thank the staff leadership member churches and donors who have helped to support the Congregational Way Varn Philbrook President Board of Governors 4 NACCC Annual Report 2018 www naccc org
