DID YOU KNOW 342 36 The National Association of Congregational Christian Churches NACCC is made up of 342 member churches 49 289 Member churches are located in 36 states throughout the country 49 289 was donated for One Great Hour of Sharing a program that raises funds to support areas struck by disaster 319 3 NACCC member churches ordained 3 ministers this year The NACCC is supported by 319 qualified and motivated volunteers 252 The 2016 Annual Meeting and Conference held in Detroit Dearborn was attended by 252 individuals 540 25 Contributions from 540 individual and foundation donors were made to the NACCC and Congregational Foundation 2 NACCC Annual Report 2017 www naccc org 25 NACCC member churches called ministers to the pulpit through the pastoral search program while 31 churches are at different stages in the process 26 Contributions and financial assistance was provided to 26 partner and recommended National and International Missions
FROM OUR LEADERSHIP Dear Friends of the NACCC and the Congregational Way Our mission statement points the way for us Bringing together Congregational Christian Churches for mutual care and outreach to our world in the name of Jesus Christ We seek to provide services and resources for our churches so they can be more successful in their ministry and to provide the means by which our member churches and people of their congregations can help each other We continue to evaluate the existing strengths and current needs of the NACCC we prayerfully prioritize those needs set goals roll up our sleeves and get to work Each Ministry Council and Leadership group is working on specific projects to improve our communication with our member churches and to provide more and better resources for them As we travel along the Congregational Way there are several current projects in progress A new friendlier more useful website with updated resources especially for both church and individual use is being developed A group is evaluating the Center for Congregational Leadership re examining the work of the Center and how it can lead the way in adapting to the changing landscape of pastoral needs for our churches There will be significant side trips as we seek to connect with and assist our more remote churches NAPF and HOPE will be with us every step of the way as we work and plan together We look forward to the coming year working with you and perhaps greeting you along the way Join us as we hit the road Let s come together with our working hands prayerful hearts and generous gifts to make it a year dedicated to serving God and to advancing the Congregational Way Laura Hamby Rev Dr Michael Chittum Moderator Executive Director We ought always to give thanks to God for you brethren as is only fitting because your faith is greatly enlarged and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater 2 Thessalonians 1 3 NACCC Annual Report 2017 www naccc org 3
A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARDS Dear Member Churches Stakeholders and Friends On your behalf the Board of Directors BoD has been working diligently this year in our capacity of the governing board in all NACCC legal and financial matters Significant accomplishments included approving a new personnel handbook for NACCC staff filing a new set of articles with the State of Wisconsin the filing for an updated 501 c 3 charitable status with the Internal Revenue Service and approving a balanced 2017 18 budget Turning our attention to the Oak Creek office we provided staff authorization for interim repairs a real estate appraisal property wetland evaluation and planned move of the Office of the Executive Director from Olivet MI to Oak Creek WI It has been a pleasure working with the other members of the BoD the Leadership Council the Board of Governors and the entire staff of the NACCC Thank you for this opportunity James Waechter Vice Moderator Chairman of the Board of Directors Dear Members and Friends of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches The Congregational Foundation CF provides fund development planning and communications in support for the work of your National Association of Congregational Christian Churches NACCC The Board of Governors BoG have the fiduciary responsibility to ensure that all gifts and invested funds are managed well allocated in accordance with donor s wishes and help ensure that our Ministries Councils are adequately funded Through the generosity of our donors the CF endowment distribution to the NACCC amounted to slightly over 97 900 The BoG along with the Development and Communication staff Debby Fulton and Morgan O Hara focused their efforts this year on assessing and restructuring the Development and Communication program and establishing a plan to help increase financial support Looking ahead we have begun work on building a Case for Support This will provide the essential messaging as to the importance of the NACCC s work while encouraging donor s contributions to help secure the future success of the NACCC We appreciate your support Varn Philbrook President Board of Governors 4 NACCC Annual Report 2017 www naccc org
