Jillian Russell is a flutist here at the University of Arkansas. She is studying under ProfessorCatalina Ortega. In her hometown, Eureka, Missouri, she attended Eureka High School, where sheparticipated in the Flute Society of St. Louis Young Artist Competition High School divisionattaining first prize in 2021. She was second flute in Missouri All-State Orchestra in 2019-2020and was first flute in the orchestra for 2020-2021. She was a part of the University of Missouri’sSchool of Music and participated in the Wind Ensemble, directed by Brian A. Silvey, which shewas in for the three semesters that she attended Mizzou, holding principal for two. Jillian also wasthe winner of the 2022-23 Missouri MTNA Young Artist Performance Competition and was laterawarded Alternate for the West Central Division MTNA Young Artist Performance Competition.This past Thanksgiving 2022, Jillian was with Marching Mizzou in the Macy’s Thanksgiving DayParade. She was chosen to represent Marching Mizzou as one of the Banner Carriers to lead theparade. She was a finalist winner of the 2023 University of Arkansas Music Honors Recital. Jillianis a member of Arkansas’ Flute Society. She has been a part of the Wind Ensemble directed by Dr.Christopher Knighten for three semesters, holding principal for two of those semesters.Henry Sargent is pursuing the Master of Music degree in tuba performance from theUniversity of Arkansas. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The University ofAlabama, where he was a member of the Huxford Symphony Orchestra, the MillionDollar Band, the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, and the Alabama Wind Ensemble. Notableperformances have included the Southeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference inKennesaw, Georgia, the CBDNA National Conference at the University of Georgia. Hewas also a member of the University Singers, performing with the group at CarnegieHall. He recently won the 2023-24 Concerto-Aria Competition at the University ofArkansas. His principal teachers have included Dr. Benjamin Pierce, Dr. JeremyCrawford and Mr. Andrew Miller, with further instruction at the Eastern Music Festivalwith Dr. Aaron Tindall.Garland Watson is a freshman Clarinet performance major from Harrison,Arkansas. He has been playing clarinet for over seven years and plans topursue a career in performing in a military band. He credits his parents forthe desire to keep learning and is thankful for their continual love andsupport. His teachers include Richard Bobo, Melinda Mathews, Sarah Reed,Janice Bengston, Sam Ellis, and Dr. Nophachai Cholthitchanta.

Ryan Montemayor (he/him) is a saxophonist and music educator based in NorthwestArkansas. Currently, Ryan serves as the graduate assistant for the University ofArkansas saxophone studio under the direction of Dr. Sarah Hetrick. Ryan has alsoreceived bachelor's degrees in music education and performance from Texas TechUniversity where he studied with Professor David Dees.Tyler Trickey is a saxophonist and educator based in Northwest Arkansas and hasperformed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States. Tyler hasbeen a prize winner for both the Senior and Young Artist state MTNA competitions, theUniversity of Arkansas Honors Recital, and has premiered arrangements of CarolineShaw’s string quartets as a member of the Alpenglow Saxophone Quartet at the 2023biennial NASA Conference in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Tyler is devoted to exploring andshowcasing Japanese saxophone repertoire, music by young emerging composers, andmusic by composers from marginalized communities. Tyler is currently anundergraduate student at the University of Arkansas pursuing degrees in MusicEducation and Saxophone Performance.Haley Evans is a junior music education student and saxophonist. Haley currentlyserves as Vice President of Sisterhood for the Psi Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, serves asthe Secretary of the Saxophone Society at the University of Arkansas, and served as anAlto Saxophone Section Leader in the Razorback Marching Band for Fall 2023. After shecompletes her bachelor’s degree, she plans to teach music in public schools. Erin Newberry (she/her) is a Senior Music Education, Saxophone Performance studentat the University of Arkansas. Erin has been an active member of the RazorbackMarching Band and continues to participate in the UARK concert bands and as amember of Tau Beta Sigma. After she graduates, Erin plans on attending graduate school where she will studymusic therapy.

Calista Maurer is a sophomore piano performance major under the mentorship of Dr.Xiting Yang. Besides working on solo piano studies, Calista collaborates frequently withcolleagues and peers as well as teaching private students through the CommunityMusic School. Calista’s current career plan is to continue piano studies throughgraduate school to then cultivate a private studio, collaborate, and perform local solorecitals.Mackenzie Schofield is a freshman music education and flute performance doublemajor. Here at the University of Arkansas, she has participated in both the WindEnsemble and the Razorback Marching Band. During her time in high school, she wasprincipal flute player for three years, drum major for two, made school history by beingthe first student to place in the Arkansas All State Band three years in a row, and wasawarded the John Phillip Sousa Band award.Morgan Murphy is a freshman Honors Biology and Music double major. While atBentonville High School, she was principal chair for her final two years and served asthe Librarian and Flute Music Section Leader for the Bentonville Pride Matching Band.She made All-State three times. At the University of Arkansas, she participates in theWind Ensemble, Razorback Marching Band, and Flute Ensemble. Not only is she an avidband musician, but she enjoys sharing music with her community. As the founder of theNorthwest Arkansas Chapter in the Our Songs Project, she organized and performed involunteer concerts for nursing homes.Ben Wheeler is a junior Instrumental Music Education major at the University of Arkansas.He grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas and graduated from Fayetteville High School. Ben hasperformed with the University of Arkansas wind ensemble since 2022 and has alsoperformed with the university Latin ensemble and percussion ensemble. Ben has alsoplayed snare drum with the Louisiana Stars Drum Corps and bass drum and snare drumwith Resistance Indoor Percussion.

Zein Liu (he/him) is a Pre-Physical Therapy and Music Education major from Maumelle,Arkansas. He currently wants to pursue physical therapy but also desires to become asaxophone professor. He is part of the Central Arkansas Chapter of the Our SongsProject, a non-profit organization that helps strengthen community bonds through theorganization of musical concerts performed by young musicians for the senior citizensof Arkansas. For Our Songs, he performs on both piano and alto saxophone. He hasplayed piano for 13 years and saxophone for 8 years. At the University of Arkansas, Zeinplays alto saxophone for the Symphonic Band and the Razorback Marching Band, andalso accompanies other musicians on piano.Isabel Fuentes is a sophomore BA Music Industry student studying voice with Dr.Lenora Green-Turner, and Flute with Prof. Catalina Ortega. In high school, Isabelearned All-Region first chair placements as a soprano one and flute, and All-State firstchair soprano one and a Wind Symphony bandsman.She is currently a member of the University of Arkansas Schola Cantorum, RazorbackMarching Band, and Wind Symphony. Isabel enjoys singing all styles of music, includingbut not limited to, classical, contemporary, jazz, pop, and Latin music. In addition toperforming, Isabel enjoys writing, recording, and producing music of her own, drawinginspiration from her life experiences. In 2023, Isabel won her classical treble categoryat the National Association of Teachers of Singing at the state level, debuted a SelenaQuintanilla medley with the UA Latin Ensemble, and was the recipient of the TarynMcClaassen Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Music. She is currently rehearsing for anacoustic set to be performed at the IC Spring Festival, in her hometown of Fort Smith,AR. Isabel is a graduate of Northside High School, a sister of Sigma Alpha lotaInternational Music Fraternity, as well as a certified group fitness instructor forUniversity Recreation.
