The group tours are notoriouslycrowded, so if you want a more relaxed andpersonalised experience, renting a privateboat is well worth the cost. Here’s how we explored the islands in theperfect order: 1. CHICKEN ISLANDNamed for its chicken-shaped rockformation, this island is a fun photo stop. Aquick five-minute boat ride away, wesnorkelled in clear waters, though the marinelife wasn’t the highlight of the trip. 2. TUB ISLAND This was easily one of our favourites. Mosttourists leave in the late afternoon, so we hada peaceful experience. In the morning, you canExploringwalk along a sandbank connecting to asmaller island, but by afternoon, the tide hadcovered it - not a dealbreaker for us! 3. KOH PODAA postcard-perfect island with soft whitesand and turquoise water. We arrived around4:30 PM, but by then, the most beautifulbeach was already in the shade. Still, it was astunning spot to visit. 4. PHRA NANG BEACHWe saved the best for last, timing our visit forsunset. Phra Nang Beach, located on theRailay Peninsula, is only accessible by boat.By 5 PM, the crowds had cleared, leaving uswith an unforgettable sunset over theAndaman Sea. FRIED CRITTERSFor the adventurous foodie you can also headto Bang Niang markets to sample some creepyfried critters: Thai style, scorpion, frogs &beetles are all on the menu.
