We’ll join the spirit of thelargest city in Kentuckyas we gather at TheBrown Hotel in Louisville. For decades, Louisville was only known as the home of the Kentucky Derby, a 2-minute horse race. Called the“Gateway to the South,” it was founded in 1778 by GeorgeRogers Clark and is named after King Louis XVI of France.Today, its claims to fame include not only the KentuckyDerby, but the Louisville Cardinals, the Muhammad AliCenter, the iconic Louisville Slugger baseball bat, and many more attractions.

WorkshopsWorkshopsConnecting to Daring DiscussionDr. Susan GriffithLessons in Chemistry Book Club DiscussionJoin Dr. Susan Griffith for a book discussion focused on her favorite book of2023, Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. Join in the discussion for a bitof fun and connection or to experience a format that helps in starting orstrengthening a book evening for your own club. Why choose Lessons in Chemistry? Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your averagewoman. In fact, Elizabeth would be the first to point out that there is no suchthing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team atHastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Exceptfor one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results. But like science, life is unpredictable. Which is why a few years later ElizabethZott finds herself not only a single mother, but the reluctant star of America’smost beloved cooking show Supper at Six. Elizabeth’s unusual approach tocooking (“combine one tablespoon acetic acid with a pinch of sodiumchloride”) proves revolutionary. But as her following grows, not everyone ishappy. Because as it turns out, Elizabeth Zott isn’t just teaching women tocook. She’s daring them to change the status quo. Dr. Susan Griffith is a member of Bluegrass Parents of Twins and Multiplesand a booklover extraordinaire. She is also excited to welcome attendees toher home state!
