WELCOME TO CELEBRATE RECOVERY! Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our life. • Maybe you are checking out this ministry because of a friend’s recommendation. • Maybe you are here because you saw a flyer or heard an announcement here at our church. …Regardless of why you decided to attend, we are SO glad that you are taking some time to review this information! SO WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT CELEBRATE RECOVERY? A typical Celebrate Recovery meeting includes: • A Large Group meeting • An Open Share Small Group • Newcomers 101 (for your first week only) The Large Group meeting is designed for the participant to set aside the busyness and stress of the outside world by entering into a time of prayer, praise and worship, and teaching as a way of getting in touch with the one and only Higher Power, Jesus Christ. The Open Share Small Group meets immediately after the large group meeting and we want to provide a secure environment in our Open Share Groups that keep you coming back! This is a safe place where participants can be in gender-specific groups and issue-specific groups. That is why we use the following five guidelines. These guidelines ensure that no matter what group you decide to attend, it will be an experience in which you will feel safe and supported. These Small Group Guidelines are: • Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts and feelings. Limit your sharing to three to five minutes. • There will be NO cross-talk. Cross-talk is when two individuals engage in conversation excluding all others. Each person sharing is free to express feelings without interruptions. • We are here to support one another, not “fix” one another. • Anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group. The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others. • Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered recovery group. The Newcomers 101 is for first-time attendees and will help you better understand what Celebrate Recovery is all about as well as provide you the opportunity to ask questions or process your feelings in a safe environment and to help you find an Open Share group.
