MTM uses online platformsto connect spiritual seekers with local churches and discipleshipopportunities. John also shepherds a local church in Erd, Hungary.The Becks transitioned back to Lubbock at the end of 2024 to be nearfamily and Open Door (which they planted as Carpenter’s Church in1998), but Monterey’s relationship with the church in Malindi, Kenyawill continue into the future. Since 2012, Monterey has grown close to thechurch there through a variety of ministries. In addition, Monterey’s weekly contribution provides $120,000 each year thatsupport the salaries of our missionary families in Hungary (John & Susan Cooper), Tanzania(Landon and Courtney Shuman), Kenya (Jeremiah Mramba, Emmanuel Mweni, and JosephKarisa), and Open Door (Jaime Wheeler). Landon, Courtney, Amanda, Hudson, Happy, and Rayden have lived inDar es Salaam, Tanzania since 2014. The Shumans bring their gifts tobear in two areas of missions: developing missional businesses andopening access to mental health care for emerging non-westerndisciples and missionaries. As of last fall, the Shumans are being led bythe Spirit to transition to Portugal where Landon will further hiseducation and Courtney will expand her global therapy practice.Operating from an unpublished location in North Africa, ourmissionaries serve as Regional Coordinators for Mission ResourceNetwork’s Mediterranean Rim Initative. Their work is a strategicresponse to the largest migration in history, as the center of theMuslim world scatters north and west. Coordinated “discipleshiphubs” continue to be planted in countries like Greece, France,Germany, the UK, and the northern coast of Africa. Through Olive Branch International, medical, VBS, and sport campsare hosted in Peru for communities who lack access to basic healthcare and the love of God through the Church. This year they willhost seven short term missions trips with various universities andchurches. The funds you give towardour Second Sunday’s Changing the World contribution are used by ourkids to learn about, connect with, and bless children around the world.Monterey Teen Ministry has blessed our teens with domestic missionsexperience for over 30 years. Each summer, our teens partner withministries in Los Angeles and Corpus Christi to build lastingrelationships with neighbors from different walks of life.Casa Materna is a maternity home connectedwith Misión Para Cristo that seeks to reducematernal and infant death rates in the regionof Matagalpa, Nicaragua.
