Grace is a self professing atheist who has experienced trauma and lives with depression These are her words Trauma Depression Anger Pain and Mental Destruction are eating my generation alive and we have nowhere to hide Unlike the Western world here in Africa we are presumed crazy or acting out when we go through these things In our community you can try and try to make them see your perspective but judgement and criticism will follow you everywhere you go But among Christian community Grace has begun to see a different reception and she has become curious She is nding a Jesus who sits with those presumed crazy outcasted and traumatized A Jesus who listens Who offers food and water to the physical body and eternal bread for the soul After writing the rst draft of this story Grace suddenly lost her father Courtney our missionary was able to sit with her in her pain Grace s belief in God is still small but it is growing She is experiencing God s reconciliation even as an unbeliever Please continue praying for Grace and her generation in Tanzania tanzania Monterey has supported Landon Courtney Shuman in Dar es Salaam Tanzania since 2014 Their work includes Partnering with coffee shops for vocational training and discipleship Disciple Making Movements DMM Discovery Bible Studies

2020 brought challenges to every corner of the world and for our Olive Branch partners in Ventanilla Peru it was no different This area already struggles to have enough resources but COVID brought more challenges When Peru went into lockdown Olive Branch began sending money each month for food to be purchased for church members and neighbors Those who were able came to the building to pick up their bag of food Bags of groceries were delivered to those unable to come to the building This is still going on Alejandro and Nohely Julio help lead the church there They felt blessed to be able to take church online when the lockdown hit Nohely now teaches the women s evening Bible class over Zoom But these adaptations have not prevented forming new relationships as well Adela was one of these One night after studying scripture with the Julios she insisted on being baptized It was high tide and the waters were rough She was scared but as soon as they stepped in the ocean the waters became calm and she gave her life to God God is reconciling all things to Him through it all olive branch Monterey has supported Olive Branch Ministries in Peru Nicaragua since 2012 Their work includes Education Bible Teaching Ventanilla Peru Medical and Non Medical Camps for Basic Health Care Dentistry Physical Therapy Maternal Infant Mortality Casa Materna Nicaragua Nica
