A letter from our director:We nd ourselves at the end of another full and wonderful year at GAFA Studios. Like every year, as I look back, I can not help but notice the repeating trends throughout our season that are reected in the upcoming show. The summation of our year is production. It is a physical demonstration of what our incredible students have learned and all their amazing growth, but something else as well. For me, the spring production is a parallel expression of things occurring in and around our studio and in our world. Many are probably wondering why I decided to restage Mission Possible. The answer to that is complicated, but the easiest way I can describe it is in one word, obedience. Our show, Mission Possible, is a story telling the faithfulness of God, that He has a plan, even when things seem impossible. But, we have a duty in His plan as well; the act of obedience. And while yes, God is able and all powerful to act alone, He invites and demands obedience from us, even when it’s hard and especially when things appear impossible. This is our story as dancers and participants at GAFA but also as human beings in our world in 2024. Things are becoming more and more difcult with the cultural and societal pressures from our world, and thus why now more than ever we need to practice obedience to the instructions of our Father. It is the only way to see the impossible to become possible! Our closing number is entitled “Anything is Possible” by Bethel Music. It is a bright and energetic dance with rainbows of color shown through the costuming and props. While it is visually attractive, it has a broader message to communicate. I chose this specic song not only for the connection to our production title, “Mission Possible”, but to the larger idea that anything is possible, with obedience, praise, and honor to Him that keeps the stars held in the sky and our feet secured to the earth. It is 2 Corinthians 1:20 that is the creed of this closing piece and the charge of our entire show, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” His rst promise to mankind, marked with a rainbow, is our closing offering to Him through this piece. All things are possible through Him, and all His promises yield this from us in response, “Yes.” and “Amen.” Thank you for joining us tonight and for being a part of GAFA. We hope you leave feeling encouraged, full of hope, and ready to answer His call. It is full of promise, full of life, and full of the impossible transforming to the possible. Faithfully,Alison Dutka Jones honors all of our Veterans and active military personnel.
