Note from OSE Board President Dear Guests Thank you for joining us for Mingle at Mayfield as we honor our 2022 class of Hometown Heroes and their contributions to the South Euclid community Please take a moment to read more about Umberto P Fideli Notre Dame College and Catherine L Stang During tonight s event we will share more about these exceptional individuals as well as the College and celebrate all that they have done and do to help strengthen our city While tonight we recognize the accomplishments of our Hometown Heroes we also celebrate what One South Euclid has achieved Our board of citizen volunteers remains committed to our mission to promote sustainable economic social and cultural connections in South Euclid Through our Neighborhood Grant Program in 2021 we invested 166 432 to help families complete exterior home repair projects businesses owners improve their storefronts and senior residents receive landscaping services In June we kicked off the summer with our annual family friendly event INTERSECTION to strengthen social bonds and attract new visitors by highlighting what makes South Euclid a fun diverse and flourishing city In partnership with the City of South Euclid we created a Summer Passport program with experiences and events that showed residents and nonresidents all that our community has to offer We know that it is the support from people like you who make the success of our residential and commercial development initiatives possible Together as One we help South Euclid thrive Karen Poelking One South Euclid Board President

Celebrating Our 2022 Heroes Hometown Heroes represent blazes of light shining down on our community their luminous rays creating pathways for growth and vitality These heroes are also connectors uniting people who work to solve problems They generously lend their compassion understanding expertise knowledge or financial support to efforts that enrich others and by doing so help South Euclid thrive We are pleased to present our 2022 Hometown Heroes who were nominated by our community The son of Italian immigrants Umberto P Fedeli was born in South Euclid and grew up on Urban Drive He has been a proud supporter of the city and its residents especially children He serves as President and CEO of The Fedeli Group one of the largest privately held risk management and insurance firms in Ohio Mr Fedeli s philanthropy has helped support several South Euclid anchor institutions over the years He has quietly yet generously contributed to Catholic education making it possible for hundreds of children and young adults to receive a quality education Last year he made the single largest donation to One South Euclid for our inaugural Hometown Heroes event A lifelong South Euclid who grew up on Plainfield Road Catherine L Stang is an educator a volunteer and a public servant She spent 31 years teaching in South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools After learning that one of her pupils had no books at home she created and spearheaded a project that put thousands of books into the hands and stories into the minds of Adrian Elementary students As her idea grew she connected with a nonprofit organization and community partners to eventually bring in over 600 000 worth of books to the students at Adrian Ms Stang is also on the Board of Directors of the South Euclid Police K9 Foundation that protects our police dogs by providing equipment for operational and training deployments as well as advance training Notre Dame College NDC has impacted our community economically culturally and socially throughout its 100 years The College offers events often free that are open to South Euclid residents and other visitors such as lectures concerts plays sporting events and art shows that contribute to the vibrance and diversity of South Euclid Many NDC students engage in volunteer service opportunities as social responsibility is a mainstay of the College s mission Members of the football team have participated in the city s Purple Heart Homes projects and students involved in Campus Ministry volunteer regularly in after school programs at Garfield Memorial Church Other students serve as tutors at the South Euclid Lyndhurst County Library
