As we move further into the schoolyear, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and appreciation forthe incredible efforts and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, andparents.I am pleased to share that our schools have successfully implementedvarious initiatives aimed at enhancing student learning and ensuring theirsafety. As we progress, I want to remind everyone of our ultimate goal: toprovide the best possible education for every student entrusted to our care.Let us keep this goal at the forefront of our minds as we tackle the challengesand opportunities that lie ahead. We continue to strive to elevate our impactfor every child, every chance, every day.I encourage all members of our community to continue engaging in open and constructive dialogue. Yourvaluable insights and feedback play an integral role in shaping the future of our schools. Lastly, I want toexpress my gratitude to all the parents and guardians who have been actively involved in their children'seducation. MEET LYNNE TODD AND THE LAURENS DISTRICT 55 HIGH SCHOOL GIRLSTENNIS TEAMLynne Todd has been with Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) fortwenty-two years. She holds a Masters in Education and is a certified ParentCoaching Institute (PCI) Parent Coach.Mrs. Todd wears many hats. She is the Parent Coordinator, District Behavior ToolsTrainer, District Volunteer Specialist, and Laurens District 55 High School (LDHS)Boys and Girls Head Tennis Coach.Mrs. Todd started as a “volunteer” coach for the LDHS Tennis Teamsfor ten years, from 2009 to 2019. She has so much joy in coachingtennis and building relationships with her athletes’ parents. Shehumbly took on the Head Tennis Coach position in 2020 when theprevious coach stepped down.Todd reminisces about her second year coaching the LDHS GirlsTennis Team when they made it to the state playoff matches. Thisyear, she looks forward to winning more seasonal matches andimproving as a team. Her goal for her tennis teams is to make it to thestate playoffs again.Mrs. Todd is very proud of her athletes - Kelsie Little (Team Captain), Sara Beth Field, Sara KatherineStarling, Ashlyn Messer, Keilynn Mendoza, San Juana Cruz-Tomas, Emma Welch, Keaton Gunby, AlainaTurner, Celeste Salas, and Anjara Norton. She is also thankful for her Assistant Tennis Coach, MayaRamirez. Their team won their first Region Match of the season on September 11, 2023, against Greer4-3.Kelsie Little shared why she became part of the LDHS Girls Tennis Team and expressed her appreciationfor Mrs. Todd.“I chose to be a part of this team because of the love I have for tennis and everything that comes with it -the relationships, the competition, and especially my coach. She has made such a big impact on mytennis game and my life in general. Coach Todd always pushes me to be better and wants what’s best forme on and off the court. This team has also allowed me to learn what it’s like to be a leader, which has avery big impact on me,” said Kelsie Little.ANGI HOWELL RECEIVES JOSTENS DIFFERENCE MAKER AWARDMrs. Angela “Angi” Howell is the Front Desk Receptionist at Laurens District 55High School (LDHS). She has been at LDHS for eighteen years. Six years ago,before taking on her current role, Angi served as LDHS custodian for 12 years.Angi truly loves serving others and earned her the respect and love of her peers.LDHS School Counselor Chrys Hill says, “Angi represents pure joy to me. Herpresence is what gives me a sense of peace on a tumultuous day and that joythat is needed to sustain any good day. She is amazing!”“LDHS couldn't have a better receptionist! Mrs. Angi Howell greets everybodywith a smile and is one of the kindest people! She is so helpful and willing to gothe extra mile for everyone,” added LDHS School Counselor Cynthia "Cindy" Godwin.LCSD 55 congratulates Angi Howell for her great work and for being honored with the Jostens DifferenceMaker Award.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETINGThe next regularly scheduled meeting of the LCSD 55 Board of Trustees will be on Monday,September 25, 2023, 5:00 p.m. at Ford Elementary School, located at 601 Lucas Avenue,Laurens, SC 29360.
