OUR PROGRAMS

The Children’s Center Utah provides comprehensive mental healthcare to enhance the emotional well-being of infants, toddlers,preschoolers, and their families and caregivers. Center-based clinicalservices include Outpatient Clinical Services and the TherapeuticPreschool Program, and utilize evidence-based, trauma-informedmodalities and research-based interventions. Outpatient Clinical Services: children birth through six and theirfamilies receive evidence-based, trauma-informed outpatient familytherapy. Children may participate in additional psychological testingto ensure the most accurate treatment and care are provided. Our full-time, licensed Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist provides childrenwith the highest level of psychiatric evaluation and care. Therapeutic Preschool Program: children ages two through five withthe most acute mental health needs receive additional support beyondoutpatient clinical services to thrive in traditional preschool settings.Children in this program learn skills around emotional literacy,empathy, perspective talking, seeking out and accepting adult support,social skills, anger management, interpersonal problem-solving, andhow to be successful in group settings. OUR PROGRAMSStatewide Provider ServicesThe Children’s Center Utah provides statewide in-person and virtualconsultation, training, and coaching for early childhood providers froma variety of backgrounds, ranging from childcare providers to licensedmental health professionals, pediatricians, and other medicalprofessionals. Early Childhood Consultation, Training, and Coaching Program: provides specialized training and support to early childhood providersfrom a variety of backgrounds throughout Utah. Recognized experts inthe field of early childhood mental health, The Children’s Center Utahteam works closely with community partners and early childhoodproviders to provide a variety of specialized services, including training,workshops, environmental observations and feedback, and technicalassistance both in-person and virtually. Our dedicated team includesclinical social workers, mentalhealth counselors, licensedmarriage and family therapists,psychologists, and a childpsychiatrist. Our team alsoincludes graduate studentinterns, post-graduate residents,paraprofessionals, shuttledrivers, and talentedadministrators. childrenscenterutah.org

OUR PROGRAMSCapacity Building System-Level WorkThe Children’s Center Utah strengthens the pipeline of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health(IECMH) professionals available to serve Utah children and families and ensures early childhood mentalhealth remains at the forefront of statewide discussions to improve access and outcomes. Workforce Development: infant and early childhood mental health professionals and students participatein internship and residency opportunities. Each year The Children’s Center Utah provides four one-year internships for doctoral candidates in psychology. In addition, we provide master’s levelplacements to social work students, mental health counseling, and marriage and family therapy students.Undergraduate students may also inquire about opportunities. Public Awareness and Program/Policy Development: awareness and policy development efforts ensureearly childhood mental health remains at the forefront of statewide discussions. childrenscenterutah.org

It provides professional development and education to earlychildhood providers, community advocates, and state leaders throughout Utah on the mental health needs of infants,toddlers, preschoolers, and their families. Toy Cleaning VolunteersVOLUNTEER WITH USCurriculum Activity Kits and Therapy-Art Projects Design interactive activity kits that follow ourTherapeutic Preschool Program's curriculum suchas seasons, farm and zoo animals, and music. Ourtherapy-based art projects will provide valuablesupport for our family therapists and therapeuticpreschool specialists. They are designed to helpchildren identify, manage, and regulate theiremotions through engaging activities.
