Demonstrate how to measure the length of something in the room using non-standard measurement units. Ask what is measurement
and bring out definitions to post on wall. Maybe ask what careers do you think have to use measuring (chef, scientist, architect,
construction, etc) to introduce the word wall.
The teacher will introduce items that need to be measured using non-standard items (inchworms, blocks, bears, paperclips, etc). The
student will make estimates and measure different items around the room using different nonstandard units of measurement; the
student will write about their findings.

Measure It Outside! (Offline) activity
Take the student outside and find different items to measure such as leaves, rocks, etc. and use non-standard measurement units to
complete the task. Have the student write down their results.
