With the very successful Canberra Convention held under unprecedented circumstance in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic now behind us we are at the start of another very exciting journey which brings you all the way to beautiful Perth and Western Australia A very big thank you to the Canberra Convention Committee for all their hard work and warm hospitality particularly when they did not know whether the Convention would actually go ahead until the last moment Joining us in Perth you can not only look forward to celebrating 60 years of Lions in Western Australia but our 75th anniversary of Lions in Australia These are fantastic milestone and to help celebrate both these occasions we will be holding a Lions Expo and inviting the 1000 s of visitors to Crown Perth to come along and see what we have achieved over 75 years We will also have some of our major projects including the Lions Hearing Bus and Cancer Bus on show in the car park doing testings over the Convention period A great way to publicise what we do as Lions City of Perth Host was the first club chartered in Western Australia and is still very active today and this was the inspiration for bringing the 2022 Multiple District Convention in Perth WA They will be at convention showcasing their journey over 60 years at the District 201W1 W2 display booth which will be well worth a visit The first Australian Lions Club was formed in the northern NSW town of Lismore on July 1st 1947 largely through the efforts of William R Tresis He called a meeting of the business and professional men in his home town of Lismore where he operated a plaster and hardware business to hear the Lions story An eloquent speaker Bill Tresise soon convinced enough members to form the club The rest is history Far Left Willian R Tresis Left Charter evening Lismore Lions Club is still active today We would love for you to join us next year from Thursday 5th to Monday 9th May 2022 at Crown Perth to celebrate two historical milestones 60 years in Western Australia and 75 years in Australia Start planning your journey and whether you are travelling by aeroplane train boat caravan or motorhome you can expect a very warm welcome form all Lions in Western Australia Complete the early bird registration form and send it through to our registrar Margaret Amm to stand a chance of winning a prize and we are looking forward to seeing you next year in May
