This month, we spotlight our first new member for the 2024-2025membership year, Ziyan Ding!Ziyan learned about us through a corporate volunteer event anddecided to join the league as a YPG member. In her short timewith us, she has volunteered at our Foster Children’s ResourceCenter, and at our “A Chic Affaire” fashion show fundraiser.Ziyan’s passion for our mission comes from her own struggles as aformer foster youth. She’s excited to give back to her communitynow that she has more time on her hands. Thank you Ziyan for all you do for our community of care and thechildren of L.A.!May was all about celebrating Asian American & PacificIslander Heritage month! Our “Stretch and Serve” yogaand service series on May 4th focused on creatingHawaiian Lei’s and Chinese Lantern craft kits for ourPreschool Learning Center. We wanted to share with ourstudents the importance of celebrating diversity bylearning about other cultures! Big thanks to corporategroup, Nadel, for bringing their staff to volunteer andnetwork with our YPG members over Indian light bites.For this month’s “Sip and Serve” on May 15th, YPGmembers Megan Smith & J’Net Nguyen hosted our firstever AAPI Trivia Night. Attendees were quizzed on theirAAPI knowledge & won fun prizes! Members and guestsmade 150 school supply kits for our Operation School Bellprogram and enjoyed a delicious grazing board sponsoredby Megan Smith and Pink Hippo!If you would like to be an event host or invite your office tovolunteer at any of our events let us know!

Currently, there are five open positions at the League: Chief Executive Officer, Preschool Teacher,Preschool Receptionist/Teacher Assistant, CRVC Referral Specialist, and Development Associate.With current CEO Melanie Merians’ announced retirement, we are recruiting for the position of ChiefExecutive Officer. The League is committed to conducting a thorough search to identify the next CEO;one who will continue to lead Assistance League of Los Angeles with intelligence, vision, and compassion.At the Preschool Learning Center, which is accredited by the prestigious National Association for theEducation of Young Children (NAEYC), several children are on the wait list to join the Preschool at thestart of the new school year, and an additional Preschool Teacher and Receptionist/ Teacher Assistantis needed.Our Court Referred Volunteer Center (CRVC) program is the leader among Los Angeles CountyCommunity Service Referral Agency (CSRA) programs. Due to increasing client participation in theprogram, an additional Referral Specialist will be hired. With the growing need of our programs and the positive connections with our corporate partners, weare in need of extra hands in our Development & Corporate Engagement department. We are seeking aDevelopment & Corporate Engagement Associate to join the team at our Los Angeles Chapter House.
