It was almostimmediately announced that “the Factory will be rebuilt at once.” And so it was! Itcontinued to produce cheese into the mid 1920’s when it was bought by a“gentleman of Chicago origin” for what was described as ‘an undisclosed sum’. Considerable scandal broke out locally when it became known that thebuilding was being used as a house of ill fame (a brothel!). However, thecomplaints were short lived when it also became known that the ‘gentleman ofChicago origin’ who had purchased the building was none other than Al Capone!Capone and his henchmen continued to use the property as a halfway housethroughout the Prohibition times (local reports show that he had several whiskeystills on nearby farms). According to further newspaper reports, a shooting inthe bar and the attention it was gathering over the years was enough toeventually coax Capone and his merry men to ‘abandon ship’. It has been run as aTavern ever since.2010 to Present “Between the Greens” renamed in 20111994 to 2010 Mac Carthy’s1993 to 1994 Hideaway1987 to 1993 Schultz’s Crazy 8’s1981 to 1986 Cold Springs Tap1974 to 1981 Crazy 8’sWe want to know the history of your business!
