5th Sunday of Easter I remember and treasure the last words that my Father said to me. For years, our telephone conversations had concluded with me saying “Love you, Dad,” and he would laughingly answer, “Me, too!” But on that day, he brought our conversation to a close by saying the words first:” I love you.” I was the one to say,” Me, too.” I hardly noticed it, but that night, when I learned of his sudden and unexpected death, and for all the years since, I have held onto those words, and they have grown in impact and significance. On the last night that Jesus and his disciples were together, Jesus said, “I give you a commandment that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” These parting words of Jesus must have taken on deeper and deeper meaning and impact as years passed. Jesus says, “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. “ In committing ourselves to love, we commit ourselves to a way of life that is not always easy, is often challenging, and has the potential to change the world. The words grow in an impact and significance as we see how much our world needs love, the love Jesus commanded us to live and share. Love one another. There will be a Pinning Ceremony at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 21, at Church of Our Lady, for members of St. Joseph’s, Church of Our Lady and Marquis. New members will receive their pins, and pins will be presented for years of service. All members are encouraged to attend to recognize and celebrate with the recipients. It’s Coffee Time! There will be a Welcome Newcomers Coffee on Sunday, May 25 at 10:00 am in the hall. All parishioners and newcomers are invited to enjoy free coffee, tea or juice and snacks at our Welcome Newcomers Coffee. Come get to know and socialize with new and long time parishioners. Newcomers to our parish are especially invited to be welcomed to our parish and receive a welcome package. Thank you to our parishioners from Vietnam for hosting the coffee. Thank you to all St. Joseph’s parishioners who participated in and supported the Family Dance. It was a great honor to have you there, which made the Family Dance a success. Thank you so much for participating. From St. Joseph’s Catholic Girls’ League Moose Jaw Right To Life: Yesterday, in the heart of Regina, Saskatchewan, something extraordinary unfolded—a moment that will resonate beyond the borders of our province. The March for Life was not only a success; it was a powerful testament to truth, courage, and conviction. Despite attempts to silence us, disrupt our message, and discourage our presence, we marched boldly, peacefully, and with purpose. The overwhelming presence of young people made this year’s march especially impactful. Their energy, clarity, and unwavering commitment breathed new life into our cause. In a world that often tells them to look the other way, they chose to confront the heart of the issue and stand for what is right. They came not out of obligation, but out of belief; not for applause, but for principle. As the sun shone down on the Legislative Grounds, one could feel a shift—an awakening, a movement reborn with strength and vision. No act of sabotage, no angry voice, and no attempt to shame or silence us could dim the light that shone from this gathering. The message was clear: life is sacred, and we will never stop defending it. To all who marched, especially the young leaders among us, you are the hope of this nation. And to those who tried to stop us, you only made us stronger. The future belongs to the brave. And yesterday, in Regina, the brave stood tall. Respect human rights. Be part of the change.

What is the Jubilee Indulgence? The Jubilee Indulgence, thanks to the power of prayer, is intended in a particular way for those who have gone before us, so that they may obtain full mercy. It is a way of discovering the unlimited nature of God’s mercy.[3] All other Indulgences previously granted remain in force. How is the Jubilee Indulgence obtained? All the faithful, who are truly repentant and free from any affection for sin (cf. Enchiridion Indulgentiarum, IV ed., norm. 20, §1), who are moved by a spirit of charity and who, during the Holy Year, purified through the sacrament of penance and refreshed by Holy Communion, pray for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff, will be able to obtain from the treasury of the Church a plenary indulgence, with remission and forgiveness of all their sins, which can be applied in suffrage to the souls in Purgatory. Catholic Education Week 2025 begins on Sunday, May 25, 2025. The Catholic schools in our parish will engage in a series of events to celebrate the ongoing gift of publicly funded Catholic education. You are invited to learn about the various celebrations that are happening in your children’s school, and are welcome to attend, if possible. Publicly funded Catholic education has existed in Ontario since 1841, and its graduates have served Ontario and Canada very well. The current generation of students in our publicly funded Catholic schools will serve with the same spirit and generosity as their previous generations. This year’s Catholic Education Week theme is "Pilgrims of Hope.” The theme for Catholic Education Week 2025 was inspired by the following considerations: • In February of 2022, Pope Francis announced that the theme for the upcoming 2025 holy year would be “Pilgrims of Hope.” “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given to us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision. (from Vatican News, a short video on the history of the Jubilee/Holy Year: https://x.com/VaticanNews/status/1783768498885275868) • The Holy Father asks us to focus prayerfully on the bonds that unite our whole human family, to reflect on the rampant poverty in our world, and to think about the plight of the many refugees forced to leave their homes. He also summons us, as stewards of Creation, “to contemplate the beauty of creation and care for our common home.” • A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey of movement toward a goal, often lived together with others – and that certainly describes Catholic education. Hope – one of the three theological virtues – is grounded in our Easter faith in Jesus’ resurrection and renewal; this is what enables us to be builders, dreamers and leaders in Jesus’ name. Pope Francis invites us to keep moving ahead in faith, in joy, and in hope, as part of a pilgrim people. Even in challenging times, our eyes are focussed on the future. The Catholic Education Week biblical quote is, “We must fan the flame hope that has been given to us.” (Letter on the Jubilee Year of Hope) Mission to Mexico The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry is taking a group of young adults on a mission to Cuernavaca, Mexico, over Christmas break 2025. The cost will be about $2500, and fundraising opportunities will be part of the preparation. Anyone interested in joining us on this initiative MUST EMAIL US @ oyyam@archregina.sk.ca to indicate your interest by June 15th. “ Holy Trinity Catholic School Division is accepting registrations at all schools. Visit our website at www.htcsd.ca to register.”
