COMMUNITY ARTICLE Waiting until college to learn business skills and how to earn money might seem too distant for many young children Kids can have an entrepreneurial spirit as early as elementary school We have all seen the child who buys packs of popsicles for the 4th of July parade and walks around on that hot day offering a popsicle for 50 cents each before the first bag is all sold she s made a profit Or the child who hauls the second hand lawnmower around the neighborhood offering to mow your lawn for a mere 10 and comes back each month to offer the same service He has repeat customers that allow him to save for that bike he s been wanting Many children have hopes and ideas of becoming future business owners but there are few opportunities that allow them to actually implement their ideas before adulthood The Magic Valley Kid Market stands out as an organization designed to encourage young entrepreneurs ages 5 16 to expand their creativity and enter the business world through creating finding a product and selling it at one of our markets Nikki Nelson founder and president of the Magic Valley Kid Market says I decided to start the market because I wanted my children to have the opportunity to start thinking about their future while creating a good mindset surrounding money and personal development As I started looking through the valley I realized there was a huge need for a hands on education opportunity for other children in our area This need is what sparked my desire to start the markets Since starting in 2019 we ve expanded to four markets and have been approved as a non profit organization We ve also received a generous grant from the Chobani Community Impact Fund CCIF to help us further our mission here in the Magic Valley The mission of the CCIF is to provide grants that promote entrepreneurship and economic TAKE IT SLOW Does your child struggle to read out loud or hate spelling tests WE CAN HELP CALL TODAY TO SCHEDULE AN EVALUATION 208 366 4833 Kool Minds 1 4 Page Vertical W E OF F E R ON E ON ON E S E S S I O N S AS W E L L A S ON L IN E P RO G R A M S www koolminds com 8 www southernidahokids com Many kids move to the next car seat too soon IDOT 1 4 Page Vertical NHTSA Shift Idaho org ChildSafety NHTSA gov TheRightSeat

sponsored by sponsored by HEALTH WELLNESS SPOTLIGHT Nausea and Vomiting Nausea and vomiting is a common occurrence and can be extremely uncomfortable for whomever experiences it Many factors can trigger nausea and vomiting Some of those might include motion sickness the early stages of pregnancy certain medications infection viruses bacteria food poisoning various smells or odors head injury and others The primary concern with vomiting is the risk of dehydration especially in children Oftentimes diarrhea is present with nausea and vomiting and furthers the risk of dehydration When nausea and vomiting does occur it can be self limiting for example when a person experiences motion sickness and becomes nauseated and proceeds to vomit generally the nausea and vomiting is short lived and the person begins to feel better shortly after However in other cases a person may need to seek medical attention if the nausea and vomiting persist for a prolonged period of time especially if signs of dehydration are present If an adult experiences nausea and vomiting for more than a day it s a good idea to visit your doctor However children can become dehydrated very quickly and need to see their doctor if nausea and vomiting lasts longer than a few hours especially if they have not urinated within that time frame Some of the signs of dehydration that one might see include a dry mouth a fast heart beat or fast breathing headaches muscle cramping confusion lack of energy dark colored urine or not urinating for several hours With infants a dry diaper for more than 3 hours is cause for concern If vomiting occurs one should avoid eating solid foods until the nausea subsides and one should try to drink small amounts of clear liquids to stay hydrated Pedialyte can help replace lost electrolytes and fluids Once the nausea has subsided a bland diet should be started foods such as toast saltine crackers broth bananas or rice This will help reduce irritation to the stomach and provide some nutrition until a normal diet can be restarted Jonathan Pittard PA C Scott M Cook NP S OPEN 8AM TO 7PM SEVEN DAYS A WEEK 208 736 7422 www picctf com We ve moved across from Walmart in Twin Falls May 2022 19
