RECOGNITION 7:39 PM May 13, 2022 י‘ב״פשת רייא ב רומא תשרפ Thurs, May 18 - Lag B’Omer. Monday, May 30 - Memorial Day. Special dismissal, 11:50 AM Hamilton, 12:00 noon Williston. Dear Parents, The הבר ארקיו שרדמ comments: “Do not allow the הוצמ of רמוע to be trivialized. It was because of this Mitzvah that Avraham Avinu merited inheriting Eretz Yisrael”. The obvious question emerges. What is the significance of this Korban that it is so critical to inheriting Eretz Yisrael? The ףסוי ראב explains: The nature and atmosphere of life in the Midbar was markedly different than how it was once we crossed the Yarden and entered Eretz Yisrael. Life in the Midbar was completely focused on תוינחור. All physical needs were provided for via the ןמ, the ראב, and the דובכה יננע. All this changed once Bnei Yisrael entered Eretz Yisrael. There, Hashem wanted us to live a physical existence, and to elevate the physical to the spiritual; a far greater achievement than life in the Midbar. Each day in the Midbar לארשי ללכ experienced the miracle of the Mon. Food was miraculously dropped daily onto their doorstep and there was no doubt as to the Source of this sustenance. This recognition was reinforced and embedded within their DNA over the course of living through this daily miracle during the forty years in the desert. But now that Klal Yisrael was transitioning to a physical existence, how would they remember that although they were toiling for their food, the source of everything was Hashem? The answer is the Korban Omer. The רמוע ןברקwas brought from barley that was תישארםכריצק, the first reaping of the new year’s crops. After all the months of hard work: plowing, sowing, nurturing and watering; we take the first crop and bring it as a Korban to Hashem. We acknowledge that Hashem is the source of our success no less than He was the source of our Hatzlacha in the Midbar. This is why the possuk writes that the we offer the Omer תבשה תרחממ– חספה תרחממ . The timing is significant. Pesach was the day Hashem demonstrated through revealed miracles that He controls the world. With the Korban Omer, we demonstrate that very same involvement is necessary for our daily success. Thus we can understand why, in the z’chus of the Omer, we can be zoche to inherit Eretz Yisrael. !תבש טוג Rabbi Ochs Close to 30 boys, in grades 4 through 8 were able to participate in the Grand Chemdas Trip last Sunday. Mazel Tov to 1B on completing Perek Gimmel of Parshas Bereishis. They celebrated with a special siyum. Thank you Rabbi Sebbag. Mazel Tov to 4G on completing Parshas Shemos. Thank you Mrs. Sternfield. The siyum will be on Monday, iy’’H. K1 students were busy with different exciting א- ב and nekudos games. In one game, the students tossed one die with letters and one die with nekudos, and then they had to read the results and paint it on the board. In another game, the kinderlach were split into two teams, and each person on the team had to read a word. When the whole team finished reading the words, they started eating licorice with their hands behind their back. The team that finished first, won. In conjunction with their science unit on the inner planets, 6G took a field trip to explore the surface of Mars, and check if it's suitable for human settlement. Baruch Hashem, they are now safely back on Earth! In K-2 STEM unit this week, the kinderlach built “a directing structure”. PreK-2 has started their unit “Things That Grow”. Children are learning about plants, they made their own seed books to document the growth of seeds in the classroom.
