We are excited to share that construction is progressing and remains on budget. While large-scale projects like this often come with unforeseen challenges and cost fluctuations, the Library is in a strong financial position to address any such issues without disrupting our long-term stability. We look forward to completing construction later this year and welcoming the community into an improved, modernized space. As we develop the Library’s 2025/2026 budget, we remain committed to responsible financial planning. We are pleased to report that this year’s operating budget remains within the state tax cap, reflecting our ongoing dedication to fiscal prudence. This year’s budget also includes the next phase of payments for the previously approved construction bond. In last year’s budget, only the interest on the bond was due. Those payments were listed separately as “debt service.” The proposed 2025/2026 budget now includes both principal and interest payments. Thanks to the Library Board of Trustees’ long-range planning over the past decade, a portion of this year’s bond payment will be covered by the Library’s reserves. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm as we complete this exciting project, ensuring that the Library remains a vital resource for generations to come.Best Regards,T. SchlittTodd Schlitt, Director = In person . = Virtual . = HybridCONSTRUCTION UPDATEDuring the cold winter months construction has continued inside the building. A dormer was built on the second floor of the north side of the building to add staff space and a new IT closet was installed to house the upgraded digital infrastructure. The two existing bathrooms on the lower lever have been totally remolded with new tiling, sinks, partitions, and accessories. When spring arrives and the weather warms up, we look forward to continuing the work on the new addition which includes the new Children’s and Circulation areas, the rooftop terrace as well as the new elevator. As always, we appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this transitional period.Best Regards,T. SchlittTodd Schlitt, Director
