Prayer Corner Focus A Traitor in Disguise Scripture John 13 18 30 No one likes to talk about this part of Jesus story Judas the traitor Regardless of how Judas life ended no one can deny Judas was chosen to be part of the 12 disciples The 12 disciples were the most intimate friends of Jesus Jesus showed the chosen disciples miracles that others didn t have the privilege of experiencing They ate and dined every day in his presence But yet one decided to betray while 11 chose to obey One could speculate this was not Judas intent Points we can learn from Judas AR WITH BOOKS st These Students Way to get in the game MORE DETAILS TO COME 1 It feels good to be chosen Have you ever been the last one picked for a team Usually when someone selects you to be a part of their team it s because you are a good performer and you will make a positive impact to help the team win Jesus chose Judas in the beginning although HE knew the outcome In Judas defense we all have betrayed Jesus with our mistakes But yet He still wants us every time It s not that we don t make mistakes but it s the choices we continue after we realize the mistake 2 It s often hard to be patient with Jesus The disciples believed Jesus was the Messiah But Jesus didn t fulfill the purpose of the Messiah as they visioned Most thought the Messiah would come to set and overthrow the Romans empire Jesus did neither Maybe Judas was trying to force Jesus to do something Jesus was never meant to do He knew Jesus could save himself Judas witnessed Jesus raising people from the dead several times So perhaps Judas was frustrated with Jesus because He wasn t living up to Judas expectation Judas set to betray Jesus when he saw expensive perfume being used to anoint Jesus feet Can you relate Jesus is not doing what you want or expect HIM to do in your situation So you take matters into your own hands 3 It s possible to pretend to be Jesus friend None of the disciples believed it was Judas who would betray Jesus There was no evidence of Judas behavior that made the other disciples think he was a traitor Evil isn t always apparent Both Judas and Peter denied Christ One chooses to take his life The other decided to change his life There is always hope and healing in Jesus Christ Mrs Veronica Boyd There is a prayer box in the office for prayer requests Meet us next Tuesday in the extended day room at 8 40 am Calvary Academy is a private Christian school with the mission of challenging its students to know Christ as Lord teaching them to know and apply biblical truth and training them to pursue academic excellence in order that they may engage and transform their world for Jesus Christ
