She holds a Masters Degree in Child Development and Learning, aPostgraduate Diploma in Dyslexia and Literacy, an AssessmentPracticing Certificate (APC) and Approved Practitioner Status from theBDA. Additionally, she is qualified to screen for ADHD.
A dyslexia assessment is carried out to investigate causes oflearning differences and gain a full understanding of learningstrengths, areas of difficulty and educational needs now andin the future.The assessment takes around three hours including a break and uses an array ofassessment tools. It measures: What is a dyslexia assessment?After the assessment, results are collated and analysed in combination with backgroundinformation from you, the parent and from teachers to produce a comprehensive reportdetailing the findings, diagnostic outcome, and crucially, offering personalisedrecommendations of how best to support the individual’s learning in the future.The cost of each assessment is £450 and takes place at Denton Village Hall, nearHarleston, South Norfolk (unless otherwise agreed). Gives you, your school, your child's current and future education and worksettings an in-depth understanding of their cognitive strengths and currentareas of weakness.Offers your child increased self awareness, helping them to understand thecause of their difficulties, increasing their self esteem and enabling them todevelop strategies to start utilising their strengths to overcome theirdifficulties. Provides an individualised set of recommendations for you and their school,explaining how to make appropriate adjustments and help the individualovercome their difficulties (again these apply to their current and futureeducation and work settings). The results from the assessment can be used as evidence for exam accessarrangements when appropriate. It can also be used as evidence to apply for Disabled Student Allowance atundergraduate or postgraduate level. In addition to our full dyslexia assessments, we will offer an ADHDscreener, approved by the NHS, called the QB Check. This is an in-personappointment held in our assessment room near Harleston. It takesapproximately 45 minutes and includes same day results and asubsequent report. The screener is suitable for anyone age six - 60.What is an ADHD screening?Our affordable, reliable, clinically trialled and NHS-Approved ADHD screener is notdesigned to be a diagnostic tool, but it is an essential step in the ADHD pathway. It objectively measures the three core symptoms of ADHD - hyperactivity, impulsivityand inattention using the results from a parental questionnaire and a short computertask carried out by your child. Results are produced during the one-hour appointment and emailed to youimmediately, and following your appointment, you will receive:A detailed report explaining the results A letter explaining the findings to teachers with recommendations on how they canbetter support your childA referral for a formal assessment (depending on the screening outcome) What is a QB Check?This screening will not only enable you to better understand the needs of yourchild, but it will allow them the recognition and support they need at school while they wait for formal assessment
