Installation is scheduled for fy24. "NE 12 St speed study: a study was conducted to determine if NE 12th street meets the city's speed hump policy requirements found that it does not warrant speed humps however tam staff requested police enforcement to address speeding and stop sign non-compliance issues at NE 11th Ave and NE 13th Ave intersections.Broward County Multimodal SurveyYour input matters, and we invite you to participate in the Broward County Multimodal Mobility Master Plan public survey. The primary objectives are to enhance the flow of traffic through the intersection and improve the multimodal accommodations. But there's more to come. This year, the city will be refreshing the planters at NE 15th Ave and NE 11/12 St as part of its commitment to a permanent multimodal improvement along NE 15th avenue. To achieve this goal, the city is actively pursuing various funding opportunities. Additionally, the project has been tentatively ranked for funding through the metropolitan planning organization's (MPO) CSLIP grant program, which operates on a longer funding cycle. Because of the overlapping grant cycles, the city is submitting the same application this year to ensure it stays on the funding priority list. Originally from Worcester, MA, Gene moved to Lake Ridge in 1988 with his partner Denis Bellavance. When I met Gene in 2012, he had retired the year before from his position as a Janitorial Supervisor for the Sun Sentinel where he worked for 23 years. Anyone who knew Gene would describe him as a prankster, hilarious, the life of the party. Gene could make you laugh at a wake! The same people would also describe him as loyal, extremely helpful a man who loved his neighborhood and was willing to put in the sweat equity to improve it.He was not into sports, but he loved to entertain. He and Denis hosted many dinner parties. Gene loved to dance and was known as “Gene, Gene the dancing machine!” His friends were his life. When I think about Gene, the words that come to mind are: Fun-loving, loyal, dedicated, meticulous and hard-working. What I loved most about him was that he cared so much about me, he cared about us, he cared about Lake Ridge. Prior to his heart attack, I can’t think of one event/activity where he was not present. And when he came, he came to work. He is and will always be missed1943 - 2023LAKERIDGECIVIC.ORG UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY. FALL WINTER 2023

FOR ADVERTISING INFO CALL 954-560-8649 LAKERIDGECIVIC.ORG 10In the City of Fort Lauderdale, cleaning up after your pet is the law, and there are important reasons why. The risk of stormwater pollution increases when pet waste that accumulates in animal pen areas or that is left on sidewalks, streets, swales or driveways is transported to water bodies. Rainwater collects and carries pet waste, and other potential pollutants, from every street, parking lot, sidewalk, driveway, yard and garden into a storm drain or catch basin that drains to the nearest body of water. Droppings from dogs, cats and other commonly kept animals, such as exotic birds, rabbits, goats, and chickens that reach water bodies can impact the natural balance in a variety of ways:Pet waste contains nutrients that can promote the growth of algae in streams, lakes, and estuaries. Algae absorb oxygen in the water that fish and other aquatic animals need to live. Animal droppings contain intestinal bacteria and disease-causing parasites that can make nearby lakes and bays unsafe for fishing, wading, and swimming after storms. In areas with very porous soils or geology, such as South Florida, pollutants such as pet waste can also reach groundwater. As a result, pet waste should not be used as a fertilizer or hosed into the ground.Pet waste that is not picked up and properly disposed of is more than a nuisance; it pollutes local waterways. Stormwater or any other water runoff carries abandoned pet waste to storm drains that discharge into waterways. This can lead to beach closures, public health and environmental issues.Proper disposal of pet waste helps prevent stormwater pollution, keeps our waterways healthy, makes neighborhoods more inviting for those who enjoy outdoor walks and is respectful of other people’s property. In much the same way that small sources of pollution add up to become a larger problem, small efforts on your part can add up to become a component of the overall solution to improve the quality of our water sources. See our Pet Waste Guidelines for more information, and inquire about our Pet Waste Signage Program. City of Fort Lauderdale Pet Waste OrdinanceSection 6-4(c) of the City’s Code of Ordinances states that, “It shall further be unlawful for a person to allow or permit a dog or other pet or domesticated animal within that person's control to deposit animal waste (except for law enforcement animals while on duty) upon any public or private property and to fail to promptly remove the animal's waste from the property.”Pet Wasteand Stormwater Pollution PreventionPet Waste and Stormwater Pollution PreventionCity of Fort LauderdaleEnvironmental Services Division954-828-8000/www.fortlauderdale.govIT'S THE LAW Section 6-4(c)LAKERIDGECIVIC.ORG UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY.
