After returning home from the army, his enthusiasm for shooting led him to compete and win many matches in the United States and abroad. He placed third in a match in France in 1919 called the American Expeditionary Forces Match and received a medal from General John Joseph (Blackjack) Pershing. That same year he won a match in Caldwell, New Jersey with a perfect score. Sam became National small-bore rifle champion in 1920 and won the Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge in France in 1923. Legacy The 1927 Sam started constructing his own Tools and Gages because he was unable to locate the proper tools to satisfy his reloading work. Operating out of a small shop in Cashmere, WA, Sam’s love of shooting inspired him to design almost the entire line of products still offered today. Since then, L.E. Wilson Inc. has continued producing tools for hand loaders, maintaining a commitment to quality craftsmanship and materials. Every tool has been meticulously designed with careful consideration and priority of both bullet accuracy and user safety. 1929 Sam won the National Pistol championship at Camp Perry, Ohio. Sam retired from freestanding rifle and pistol competition in 1936, when he began bench rest shooting. 1954 Sam won the National Bench Rest Competition with a group of ten bullets from 100 yards away. 1968 Jack’s stepson, Jon Morrison, started working for the company. The following year, Jon left to serve two years in the Army as an Army sniper. After working at Wilson Tools part-time while attending college, Jon began to work there full-time, immersing himself in all aspects of the business. 1973 Sam received well-deserved recognition by being inducted into Rifle Magazine’s Bench Rest Hall of Fame. His exceptional shooting ability and contributions to the development of ammunition-loading tools earned him this honor. 1985 Sam passed away, leaving his sons, Jack and Jim Wilson, to run the business. 1993 After Jack’s passed in 1993, his stepson, Jon Morrison, purchased the business to keep it in the family. 2007 Jon invited his son-in-law and daughter, Dan and Jaclyn Reichert, into the Wilson Tools business. With over 40 years of experience as a reloader and shooter, Jon imparted his knowledge and expertise to both of them. Their mission was to learn, operate, and advance the company with new computerized equipment and CNC technology. Dan and Jaclyn both come from an experienced business background, combining tradition with innovation to sustain the ongoing success of L.E. Wilson Tools. They are dedicated to maintaining the highest quality reloading tools on the market and continue to expand the product line to fulfill the needs and challenges of today’s competitive shooters. L.E.
