The 25th Anniversary celebration was truly spectacular, and the drone show was a memorable highlight that captured the vibrant spirit of our community.Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting one-on-one with Board Members, volunteers, homeowners, and team members to gain deeper insight into the community’s current needs and priorities. I’ve also been actively reviewing applications for two key positions within the Association Management Ofﬁce.I’m delighted to ofﬁcially welcome Miisha Anderson as our new Community Association Manager. Her warm personality, calm leadership style, and wealth of experience make her a wonderful ﬁt for the role. We’re excited to have her on board!You may have also noticed some recent improvements to the landscaping around the Association Management Ofﬁce. Due to persistent issues with dying grass in this area, we’ve replaced it with decorative river rock to enhance the overall aesthetics at the entrance. This is just the beginning—more enhancements are on the way!As we say goodbye to the season and to our international team members, we thank them for their hard work and wish them safe travels. We eagerly anticipate their return in the fall.Thank you all for your continued support and patience as we transition into our new roles. We were slightly over budget by $798 for expenses in March. Please remember the River Club charges made in April are also due by the 10th of May. Interest charges will accrue if payment is not received by this date. It would be great if I didn’t have to generate those charges.I hope everyone enjoyed the anniversary events, especailly the drone show. That was one of the most unique and entertaining events I have ever experienced! Kudos to Susan for all her efforts to bring that to us.We have transitioned to using AvidExchange processing payments to our vendors. All invoices are uploaded to the their website. Invoices are coded and approved, then selected for payment only after the approvals have been made. AvidXchange sends the payments to the vendors. It is a savings of resources (paper and check stock), time (board members can review and approve invoice without having to come in the ofﬁce), and storage space as all invoices are digitally stored so we do not have to ﬁle and box them up at year end. There is nothing like opening a box that was in storage for a year to have a bug crawl out of the paper and up your arm…. It was a smashing success, and we’re alreadylooking forward to doing it again next year!Next up, we celebrated a major milestone—our 25th Anniversary Cocktails and CasinoExtravaganza! Whether you joined us on Friday or Saturday, the energy was electric. Withincredible food, handcrafted cocktails, thrilling casino games, and lively entertainment, it wastruly a night to remember. Friday’s drone show was the perfect grand ﬁnale, and we know it’llbe talked about in the community for years to come.This year’s Easter celebration, although later than usual, broke all records with the largestturnout in Waterlefe history! We used every chair and glass we had to accommodate all ourmembers and their special guests. It was a joy to spend this cherished holiday with so many ofyou.We wrapped up the month with a truly special H2B Dinner, which was interactive,heartwarming, and delicious. Our amazing H2B staff shared their favorite dishes and drinks fromtheir home countries, along with the stories behind them. It was a unique opportunity to celebratetheir cultures and thank them for their incredible contributions this season.As the season winds down, we want to thank you for your continued support. WATERLEFE GOLF & RIVER CLUB | LEFE LIFE | MAY 2025 | PAGE 23 May 2025 Boating Community NewsThird Annual Waterlefe Fishing DerbySubmitted by Jim Manning & Bob CameronOur third annual ﬁshing derby was held from January 11 to March 31 with the Awards Dinner held on April 16 at The River Club.This year`s tournament had 20 registered anglers who participated to catch the biggest Snook, Red Fish and Largemouth Bass. They also caught ﬁsh to register them for dinner rafﬂe tickets.Thirty ﬁve people attended the Awards Dinner including anglers, guests and our guest speaker, Max Moneuse, pro bass ﬁsherman.Biggest Fish Awards went to:“14 year-old” Loris Coué - 26.5” SnookCarl Blaze - 23” BassBob Cameron - 25” Red FishWinners received either a free guided ﬁshing charter, a half price ﬁshing charter or a $100 gift card. All other anglers who caught ﬁsh received rafﬂe tickets for each ﬁsh turned in up to a max of 10. Prizes for the rafﬂes included a ﬁshing rod, $50 gift card, Yetti and other tumblers, ﬁshing shirts, lures, wine, gift cards to local restaurants, free car washes and more. Numerous door prizes were also handed out.Special recognition awards went to Dawn Scott, Roger Glasgow and Craig Raistrick for the Most Species Caught and Kirk Birrell captured the Smallest Fish Award for the second year. Way to go Kirk!Everyone had a good time, a good dinner and carried home some nice prizes. This event brought people together, building friendships and camaraderie. We are looking forward to next year’s Derby being even better.
