WATERLEFE GOLF & RIVER CLUB | LEFE LIFE | MAY 2024 | PAGE 3 Susan Greene | MPOA General Manager/COO | GM@WaterlefeFL.comIt’s hard to believe that Summer is soon arriving and our class of the 2023/2024 international team, and Zoe, our latest Member Relations Coordinator, are headed onward. On behalf of everyone here, we wish them the very best in what comes next. Tianna will be expanding her role, adding on Member Relations and Reservations Coordination, and Dan and I will begin interviewing for the next class of international staff later this month with hopes of having our new team in place in October. In other news, around the holidays, we often here of “porch pirates”, but not usually “paper picker uppers”. Yes, it seems some have been taking your neighbor's paper from their driveway. Almost the entire Community has some sort of camera device on their home. Trespassing is not allowed. Please check to be sure that your neighbor is home before you remove their paper. Thanks. With the recent changes to our Maintenance Staff, we have engaged the services of a housekeeping firm. Hopefully you have noticed. I appreciate feedback. It was reported at the April Board meeting that the River Club Committee approved the sound proofing walls for the Bar/Bistro area along with the refinishing of the front doors. These along with several housekeeping items will be presented next month in line with our summer cleaning projects. We appreciate the new additions to the Walk of Fame at The Pointe, new pavers have been placed in honor of our Waterlefe Veterans, Dennis Carkonen, and Dom Paturno. Speaking of veterans, Memorial Day is on May 27th. Be sure to have a safe holiday, remember those who sacrificed for our country, and thank a veteran you know for their service. For those heading to your other communities for the summer, have a great time and we’ll leave the lights on. PAGE 12 | LEFE LIFE | MAY 2024 | WATERLEFE GOLF & RIVER CLUB All About Depositing ChecksMPOA atHello Waterlefe Members! Good news - the 2023 audit is complete, and there are no operating imperfections. It is posted on the website for your review. Last month I discussed how to read your statement on the website. This month I want to clarify our process of depositing checks. How the pre-authorized payment process works: On the first day of the month (or the Monday following if the first is on the weekend) a report is sent to our bank stating the amount due from each member who has signed up for this process. Our bank then contacts all those banks to withdraw the amount due and deposits it into the MPOA operating account. It may take a day or two for that withdrawal to post to your bank account. I would like to encourage everyone to sign up for this process as it will save time and money for all.How checks received are processed: All checks received are posted the day they are received, or the following day if received late in the day. However, all checks received on the 10th day of the month are posted with a deposit date of the 10th, even if the 10th falls on a weekend. This means that if you put your check in the box outside the office over the weekend and the 10th is on a weekend, your check will be posted with a deposit date of the 10th.If you have your bank send us a check: Please understand that it is not sent to us electronically. It is written and mailed by the bank. Therefore, please, please, please send this check on or before the due date of the 1st if possible. We do not have control over how long it takes the USPS to send the check, and if you have not noticed, they don’t seem to postmark envelopes consistently. However, if your bank states the check will be delivered by a certain date that is before the 10th, and we don’t receive it until after, you can go back to your back to recover any late fees.Per section 8.10 of the MPOA governing documents: All assessments are due by the 10th of the month of the invoice date (January 10th, April 10th, July 10th, October 10) and River Club charges are due by the 10th of the month following the month of the charges. For instance, all River Club charges made in May will be due by June 10th.The quarterly invoice for assessments are sent one month in advance via email. However, the monthly statements are not sent. Everyone has access to their statement on the website. If you have any problem signing onto the website, please contact Lindsey, Shana or me. We are happy to help you with this. The website is your best tool for all information related to the MPOA.Believe me, there is no pleasure in sending late notices to anyone. However, a requirement of my position is to uphold the covenants of the MPOA, and to treat everyone fairly. My apologies if I sound like a broken record. As always, if you have any questions, suggestions on a topic or you would like more information about anything, please feel free to contact me at Comptroller@waterlefefl.com.The next Finance committee meeting is Tuesday, May 21, at 10AM. All are welcome to attend this meeting.ReportValerie Funk | Comptroller | Comptroller@WaterlefeFL.com

PAGE 30 | LEFE LIFE | MAY 2024 | WATERLEFE GOLF & RIVER CLUB This Month's CDD Committee UpdatesLANDSCAPE COMMITTEE:The Committee reviewed the most recent Field Inspection Report. In addition to standard maintenance, the committee discussed plans for this summer, the decline of a recently planted magnolia tree near Rainbow Court, and three dead pine trees near River Basin Court. The pine trees had evidence of borers of pine trees so in addition to the removal of the dead pines, the remaining pines in that area will begin a preventive injection program to protect against the insects. The Committee also discussed the landscape plans around the renovated clubhouse. A minimal plan was created for the site permit, but it didn’t include much more than items required by code. It was decided to reach back out to the landscape architect who did the first plan to have them revisit the plans and come back with something more comparable to the rest of the community.GOLF COMMITTEE:The Golf Club continued to add members through the first quarter of 2024. The current membership is at 299 compared to a budget of 300. The Club is also advertising it’s Summer Membership that runs from May 1st through September 30th. Both the WWGA and WMGA have new presidents who will be joining the Golf Committee in May. Diane DeGennaro was recently appointed president of the WWGA and Jeff Morris is the new president of the WMGA. The Golf Committee would like to thank previous presidents Bonnie Tyler and Joel Ambrose for their time served. With summer comes aerification of the greens. The first aerification is scheduled for May 28-30 followed by July 8-10 and September 3-5. Additional course work this summer will include relocating the cart paths and main irrigation lines on the tees of hole 12 and 14 due to the impacts of the widening of Upper Manatee River Road. The new paths will be on the west side of the tee boxes. The golf course is not losing any property but making this change will protect the irrigation infrastructure and allow space to replant a green barrier where the existing cart paths exist. The cost of these projects will be paid for by the county.CAPITAL PROJECT COMMITTEE:April was a busy month for the building renovation. The building is 100% dried in and drywall is almost complete. Finish installations will begin immediately following drywall. The completion date of construction is currently scheduled for June 6th. As a reminder, some time will be needed post construction to prepare for business. Expected opening of the food and beverage operation is late June to early July.SAFETY COMMITTEE:Did not meet in April. You deserve the best. You deserve Waterlefe.

Reading has many benefits for adults, including reducing stress, improving memory, and increasing empathy. One of the most significant benefits of reading is that it can help reduce stress. When you read, you escape from the everyday world and enter a new one. This can be a great way to relax and de-stress after a long day.Reading can also help to improve memory. When you read, you constantly absorb new information and store it in your memory. This can improve your recall and make it easier to learn new things. In addition, reading can help increase empathy. When you read fiction, you see the world from the perspective of different characters, which can help you better understand others and their experiences.
