OVERVIEW Lay ministry has always been critical to the vibrancy of the Church Today fewer and fewer men and women are pursuing seminary training as churches continue to dwindle in size across the country The importance of Biblically and theologically educated lay people is critically important to the continued vitality of the Kingdom With more small churches the need for gifted lay leaders has never been greater In fact the involvement of gifted lay people is key to the health of every church Many churches can no longer afford a full time seminary trained pastor and though God will raise up lay people to pastor where will they get the additional training they need to be effective PURPOSE The National Association of Congregational Christian Churches NACCC has undertaken a new effort to bring Lay Ministry training to its churches The Lay Ministry Training Program LMTP has been carefully revised in an effort to include more active participation expertise from current ministers flexibility and technology which could make a significant impact on NACCC member churches and communities for Christ The Lay Ministry Training Program is created for individuals who wish to gain skills with a goal of helping their church and its ministries Educated lay ministers and or lay leaders can be extremely advantageous to a local congregation A trained lay minister can benefit your church by Providing help in the pulpit Assisting with church programming Caring support through visits and pastoral care Pastoral leadership PROGRAM The Lay Ministry Training Program assists in the spiritual development of individuals and enhances knowledge in areas of biblical knowledge theology worship mission Congregational history and polity and others This program seeks to enable effective lay ministry that is distinctly Congregational Lay Ministry gives people tools to super charge God s gifts for serving in Christ s name Instructors will present material through a virtual platform and allow for online discussion between students and instructors Classes will be led by qualified clergy and church leaders of the NACCC who will bring their training and expertise in the ministry As a lay minister myself the Lay Ministry Training Program is very near and dear to me With so many tiny churches with dwindling budgets I really feel that the lay ministry program is a life saver for many of our tiny congregations Pastor Bruce Pound Lay Minister Remer Congregational Church Remer MN
