PETER THOMAS Peter Thomas is a New Zealand based conductor and music educator He is the Music Director and conductor of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra and Head of Music at Epsom Girls Grammar School Peter has conducted many orchestras including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Auckland Youth Orchestra St Matthew s Chamber Orchestra Devonport Chamber Orchestra and West Michigan University Orchestra either during master classes or as a guest conductor Though his repertoire is broad he feels an affinity with Romantic and 20th century works and is passionate about performing new music Peter graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Auckland sometime last century As a music educator he inspires his students to strive for excellence but to have fun while doing it a philosophy which he extends to many other walks of life His other activities include contract work for NZQA occasional radio and TV appearances and directing Remuera Music School NORTH SHORE CHORALE LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS North Shore Chorale was established in 1976 by influential local musician and teacher Margot Lloyd Since that time the choir has moved from strength to strength and love the challenge of singing a range of music from classical to light Recently North Shore Chorale decided to change their name to Harbour Voices to better reflect the diversity of membership and the outreach and scope of the group s performance Peter Thomas Music Director Conductor Lynley Bilby Concertmaster Phil Hickman President Gary Daverne O N Z M Music Director Emeritus Steve Pipes Orchestra Manager Presented by Auckland Live Auckland Symphony Orchestra Last N ght OF The Proms Auckland Symphony Orchestra gratefully acknowledges the support of Auckland Live Milford Business Association Lewis Eady Music PwC SAT 22 JUNE Bruce Mason Centre SUN 23 JUNE Conducted by Peter Thomas Auckland Town Hall aucklandlive co nz

LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS Fanfare Gordon Jacob God Save the Queen Thomas Arne Light Cavalry Overture Franz von Supp By the Sleepy Lagoon Eric Coates A Wand ring Minstrel from Mikado Gilbert Sullivan featuring Harry Grigg Tenor and Nicholas Forbes Conductor Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah Handel featuring North Shore Chorale Nicholas Forbes Conductor Yesterday When I Was Young Charles Aznavour featuring Suzanne Lynch Four British Songs arr David Woodcock SUZANNE LYNCH After Suzanne was discovered along with her sister Judy by New Zealand guitarist Peter Posa the two sisters became regular performers New Zealand television Travelling to England in Jan 1973 Suzanne quickly became one of London s first call session singers singing on albums by Chris De Burgh Art Garfunkel ShaWaddyWaddy Cleo Lane The Walker Brothers and Cat Stevens to name just a few She joined Cat Stevens band in 1974 and performed with him on two world tours and on all his recordings until he gave up his music and became Yusuf Islam She had the pleasure of singing with him once again in his Christchurch concert last year as his special guest Suzanne was the vocal coach for New Zealand Idol and Stars In Their Eyes and has been the vocal and performance coach for New Zealand s Got Talent for the last two years Currently Suzanne teaches contemporary vocal technique and stage performance and is still busy performing as a soloist and as a member of the well known vocal group TheLadykillers with Tina Cross Jackie Clarke and the The Ladykillers special guest Annie Crummer and performs regularly for the OPERATUNITY Company doing shows both around New Zealand and overseas Waltz No 4 Adrien de Croy Vainement ma bien aim e from Le roi d Ys douard Lalo featuring Harry Grigg Tenor Nimrod from Enigma Variations Edward Elgar Welcome Home Dave Dobbyn featuring Suzanne Lynch Montagues Capulets from Romeo Juliet Sergei Prokofiev featuring Dancers from Milford School INTERVAL God Defend New Zealand Thomas Bracken Wasps Overture Ralph Vaughan Williams Always Something There to Remind Me Burt Bacharach featuring Suzanne Lynch HARRY GRIGG Harry Grigg is in the process of completing his Honours Degree at the University of Auckland under the tutelage of Te Oti Rakena Harry recently placed third at the 2018 PACANZ Young Performer of the Year Competition In 2017 Harry attended Si parla si canta a six week summer school in Italy In October he took part in Patricia Hurley s Opera Tours for Singers in Tuscany After returning from Italy he then travelled to Brisbane to perform the role of Scaramuccio in Strauss s Ariadne auf Naxos as part of the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School Harry was selected as a member of the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation Singer Development Programme in 2017 18 and gratefully acknowledges the support of the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation He is currently a member of the Freemasons New Zealand Opera Chorus and has just finished the Auckland season of Rossini s The Barber of Seville Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco Giuseppe Verdi NICHOLAS FORBES Highland Cathedral Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb featuring Isaac Turner Nicholas Forbes has been the Musical Director of our North Shore Chorale since 2014 A conductor singer and organist Nicholas is currently completing his honours degree in conducting at the University of Auckland He was SubOrganist of Christchurch Cathedral before moving to Auckland where he studied historic keyboard with James Tibbles and conducting with Dr Karen Grylls He taught music at Rangitoto College and King s College where he conducted the award winning choirs The Fundamentals and All The King s Men Nicholas is the Assistant Director of Music at St Patrick s Cathedral Auckland where he directs the cathedral s Vocal Ensemble A former member of the National Youth Choir he sings in the national chamber choir Voices New Zealand and has been a participant in the Symphony Australia conductor development programme Pomp Circumstance March No 4 Edward Elgar Fantasia on British Sea Songs Henry Wood Rule Britannia Thomas Arne Pomp Circumstance March No 1 Edward Elgar Jerusalem Hubert Parry arr Edward Elgar You ll Never Walk Alone Rodgers and Hammerstein
