We inherited a symbol of racial injustice, a house built by enslaved people in Alabama. We inherited a country of racial inequality, a system designed to enshrine white wealth. Now we face a responsibility to interrogate this inheritance. To confront these truths in small ways that, someday, may lead to the kind of change that repairs.Klein Arts & Culture began with two descendant communities coming together to reimagine kinship.Together, we dedicate our work to seeking justice through the arts. Because art has the power to reveal and restore a shared humanity that often has been erased.-Tyler Jones, 2020

Dear Friends,As Klein Arts & Culture Board President, and Mayor of Harpersville, I want to thank you for sharing our vision for the future of this house, this land, and our community. In 2018, Klein Arts & Culture was established to begin a new era for this land that bears a legacy of pain and injustice. We descendants joined together to create something new.We are inviting artists, writers, historians, thinkers, collaborators, and others to help us create a new place for truth telling and racial reconciliation. To do this we need your help. In 2023, we will break ground on an artist residency cottage and construct vital infrastructure for the Wallace house (including restrooms and an HVAC system). ese capital improvements will help us create a welcoming and comfortable space for all who want to engage in this work of repair.I hope you will support this continued work, and I look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.eoangelo PerkinsPresidentLetter from the PresidentDear friends,Thank you to all our supporters who helped make so much incredible work possible in 2022.
