Visionary Wordsby 04We entered the new financial year with a strong order book and a robust tender pipeline across our key markets. Both domesc and internaonal markets present significant growth opportunies for all our businesses, which is a remarkable shi. The government and private sector investments in water, infrastructure, airports, buildings, manufacturing and railways are driving remarkable growth and capital expenditure.I believe the new name 'Kalpataru Projects Internaonal Limited' (KPIL), truly reflects the breadth of our well diversified EPC business, global presence and sll imbibes the values and legacy associated with it. Over the past four decades, we have established ourselves as one of the most valuable brands in the EPC sector. With the strategic amalgamaon of JMC Projects (India) Limited, we have emerged as one of India's largest listed engineering and construcon companies with extensive global presence along diversified business segments spanning Power Transmission & Distribuon, Buildings & Factories, Water, Railways, Oil & Gas and Urban Infra. Dear Kalpataru Parivar,

Since its incepon, KPIL has believed that a corporaon has a larger role to play beyond generang wealth. It serves as an integral part of the social system, addressing environmental and societal needs. As one of the few EPC companies in India, we generate approximately 15 MW of green power and extensively ulise biofuel, solar and wind energy in our daily operaons. To create a dense green forest, we have implemented the Miyawaki technique, planng 9,000 saplings at a project site in Lalitpur. Our commitment for reducing carbon footprint and praccing sustainability aligns with our journey towards achieving Net Zero carbon. We foster a technology-first approach throughout our organizaon, transcending levels and funcons. This culture enables us to achieve our strategic objecves in operaonal excellence and sustainability. By invesng in advanced IT infrastructure and digital tools, we have reduced project delivery meframes, enhanced responsiveness to urgent events and maintained our focus on value creaon.The Company has doubled its global reach to over 70 countries in the past five years, with significant growth seen in developed economies. We focused on expanding into newer geographies to drive profitable growth, and our strategy has been successful. In the long run, our focus will be on further augmenng our engineering capability and expanding to newer geographies and high-margin segments so that our overall profitability remains robust. The merger-related synergies and our other strategic intervenons will aid in 2025 vision of achieving a revenue of US$3+ billon, an order book of US$6+ billion, with an ROCE of 20%+.Our projecons for FY24 include standalone revenue growth exceeding 30%, achieving the PBT margin in the range of 4.5-5%, ensuring the finance cost as a percentage of sales to be in the range of 2%, and achieve a ROCE of 18-20%. With favourable tender acvity and a consolidated target of Rs. 26,000 crores or more in order book for the fiscal year 2023-24, we have a substanal growth runway. However, we remain vigilant regarding uncertaines such as geopolics, inflaon, commodity, and currency volality. To navigate these challenges, we are strengthening our risk management, diversifying our business mix and enhancing our execuon capabilies. ChairmanMofatraj P MunotI take this opportunity to thank all of you for your unsnted loyalty and dedicaon. I look forward to your connued support in our journey toward seng higher levels of excellence.I strongly believe that our People are our biggest asset - Our invaluable pillar of strength. Our employees live the company values and contribute as much to the fabric of our organisaon as they do to our success. Our People and their well-being are one of our top priories. We made significant efforts in the last one year, by focusing on aspects such as work-life balance, training, global learning opportunies and retenon programs. Whilst high arion has emerged as a common phenomenon in the EPC industry and in business in general, we connue to acvely engage with employees, understanding their aspiraons, needs and concerns. We have acted and modified policies, pracces and development discussions based on connuous feedback.Through our iniaves in healthcare, educaon, animal welfare, environment, and community development, we connue to posively impact the lives of hundreds of thousands, aiming for sustainable and inclusive developmentOur Company's governance principles revolve around transparency, accountability, responsibility, compliance, ethics and trust. Sh. Shailendra Kumar Tripathi08Rendezvous with LeaderI have blissful memories of my childhood days in Allahabad and Jabalpur! Together with my parents and three siblings, we revelled in the simple joys of life. I was fortunate to grow in large combined family of uncles, aunts and cousins. During my formave years, my grandfather, who was a teacher by profession and father who was Employment Officer with Govt. of MP, became my greatest source of inspiraon. At a tender age, I was capvated by their simplicity, perseverance and steadfast atude of never giving up. They have influenced my life in more ways than one. I aribute a significant part of who I am today, to the strong guidance and nurturing provided by my grandfather, uncles and parents. From them, I learned the importance of sharing, discipline, dedicaon and resilience. Dear Sir, thank you for taking the me out for this interview. Without further ado, let us dive in to where it all began, your childhood. During your formave years, what were your dreams and aspiraons like? Who served as your role model and what qualies or characteriscs made them parcularly influenal?I was a studious student who enjoyed learning, so much so that, I would diligently complete the curriculum of the forthcoming academic year during my summer breaks. Seeing my love for academia, my parents encouraged me to pursue a career in medicine and become a doctor. Nevertheless, aer devong a month to the study of biology in the lab, I realised that this was not my true calling. I had disnct plans with my life from a very young age. My dream was to have a successful career in the corporate world and be a jet seer, even though I had not travelled by air ll then! I had an inmate group of 7-8 friends in college, all of whom had aspiraons to take up Government jobs. This was an era where securing a Government job was considered cushy and the epitome of achievement for any Indian middle-class household. During my first year of college, I once stumbled upon a copy of Business India magazine, and it capvated my aenon completely. Compeon Success and Business India magazines became my companion throughout my college days. They played a significant role in broadening my awareness of potenal career prospects within the corporate realm and providing valuable insights into the industry's landscape. Upon my college graduaon, I found myself presented with two job offers: one as a second Lieutenant in the Defence sector and the other from the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board.Despite pressure from family and peers to pursue a governmental job, what prompted you to embark upon a career in the private sector? In this interview, we delve into Sh. SK Tripathi's remarkable journey, his formave years, his approach to leadership, his role models, hobbies and many more interesng aspects. Our Leader effortlessly navigates the complex dynamics of the business world, while exuding a remarkable sense of calm, just like the serene Buddha statue in his office room. At the core of his leadership philosophy, lies a deep understanding of mindfulness and inner balance. He seems to have mastered the art of remaining centered, even amidst the most chaoc circumstances. Team Kalpatarang is honoured to have Sh. Shailendra Kumar Tripathi, Deputy Managing Director of Kalpataru Projects Internaonal Limited, for this exclusive rendezvous.

Page 9

However, by that point, the corporate bug had firmly latched onto me, and I was determined to pursue the career of my dreams within the corporate domain. I always believe that the failure to aempt is the biggest failure in life. Hence, I declined both offers, embarking instead on my corporate journey with Gammon India, determined to chart my own path and seize the opportunies that lay ahead. One of the qualies you are known for is your perseverance. Can you recall an experience where you faced a challenging situaon that truly tested your tenacity? You are a role model to many. We would love to hear from you about what excites you the most about our Company and the current stature it holds today? The key takeaway here is that one's ability to persist through adversity can lead to personal growth and posively impact the situaon at hand. It has the potenal to unearth the hidden talent within oneself. In my case, I embraced the challenge and incorporated it into my journey, using it as a catalyst for personal and professional development.Upon compleng the project, it emerged as one of the most successful and notable endeavours for the company. As a result, I advanced up the corporate ladder mulple mes. This experience taught me a valuable lesson: had I undertaken the project solely with the intenon of garnering promoons, I might have been unable to achieve the transformaon necessary to make this project profitable. In addion, there is always an opportunity in every adversity and challenging situaon. It was a project assigned to me during my tenure at a previous company. Many had already wrien off my career, predicng its demise with this undertaking.Undoubtedly, it was an arduous task. Reflecng on those six months spent in Lonavala, all I can recall is my unwavering focus on the task, without concern for personal recognion or accolades within the company. Somemes, we tend to selfishly fixate on our own success and lose sight of the bigger picture. In this case, my sole determinaon was to turn the project from a loss-making venture into a profitable one, thereby contribung to the overall growth of the company. There have been a few adversies I have encountered in my professional journey, but one, in parcular, stood out as truly challenging and has been influenal in shaping me as a leader. The merger and the synergies established therefrom have posioned us as one of the largest listed EPC Monoliths of India. What excites me most about our company today is the ability to bid for large-size, more complex projects involving the combined experse of our different businesses. I envision our company as the premier choice globally for any complex projects, cemenng our status as an eminent EPC player on the global stage. We should be recalled by customers as preferred partner in the areas of our business. What is that core value or principle that guides your decision-making both as a leader and as an individual?I firmly believe in the power of "Non-Self-Conscious Individualism," a concept rooted in having a purpose-driven life that is not centered around self-seeking desires. When pursuing a specific goal, it is crucial that the goal itself transcends personal interests. The focus should not be on what one can gain personally, but rather on something greater than oneself. From a professional standpoint, I apply the same principle to any business decision I make. I priorize the growth of the organizaon first and foremost, followed by the broader strategic business goals, and then the individual business objecves. By adhering to this order, I have found great success both as an individual and leader. By placing the greater purpose above self-interest, we unlock abundance of energy and pave the way for genuine growth and transformaon. I am also greatly influenced by works of Carl Jung and Vedic scriptures including Upanishads and Geeta. Understanding of Geeta blended with Jungian psychology, specifically, has had a profound impact on me. 09

You are an avid runner. What fascinates you most about running? Any other hobbies you would like to share with us? I enjoy both running and cycling. There's something truly magical about lacing up the shoes, stepping out onto the open road or trail, and feeling the rhythm of the body in moon. It's a form of stress buster and meditaon in moon, where I can focus solely on the rhythmic cadence of my breathing and the steady beat of my feet hing the ground. The feeling of strength and vitality that surges through the body during a run is invigorang and addicve. It is also a constant source of discovery and growth. Also, I am always compeng against myself. I have also taken a serious liking for golf. Yes, Golfing has undoubtedly become a passion that I intend to pursue seriously once I slowdown from my professional endeavours. The tranquillity and strategic nature of the sport has capvated me. We hear that one of your biggest inspiraons in life is the poem . What specifically about this हार नह󰍮 मानूँगाpoem inspires you the most?Yes, ' by Shiv Mangal Singh 'Suman' is my हार नह󰍮 मानूँगा'go-to poem. There is a line in parcular in the poem that says, 'संधष󰉆 पथ पर जो िमले, यह भी सही, वह भी सही। वरदान माँगूँगा नह󰍮।' Never accept defeat. Difficult mes are oen blessings in disguise. Hence, always hold your head up high and keep moving forward. What pearls of wisdom would you like to impart to the young, aspiring leaders in this fiercely compeve corporate world? Based on your experiences, what advice would you offer to help them navigate their own leadership journeys successfully? We are blessed with two children. Our son Priyanshu is dabbling his hands on Markeng & Adversing aer his MBA in Markeng and our daughter Pallavi is working with T&T in USA aer her MS in Construcon Administraon. Kids have helped to me evolve with changing mes, with their constant feedback, for which I am eternally grateful. Follow your passion, and then the rest will follow. In this fiercely compeve corporate world, it is easy to be swept up in the pursuit of success, recognion, and financial gain. However, true fulfilment and success stem from aligning your work with your passion. When you genuinely love what you do, it becomes a driving force that fuels your movaon, creavity, and resilience. It propels you to go above and beyond, pushing boundaries and unlocking your full potenal. Therefore, I encourage each and every one of you to listen to the whispers of your soul, idenfy your passions, and fearlessly pursue them. When you do what you love, success, fulfilment, and happiness will naturally manifest, leading you on a remarkable journey where the possibilies are limitless. Trust in your passion, and the rest will undoubtedly follow.Thank you for this wonderful rendezvous, Sir. Team Kalpatarang wishes you the very best in all your future endeavours. Absolutely! My family is undoubtedly my biggest support system and my best cheerleader. My beer half Kavita is the nucleus of our family. She runs a school for spasc children. Her commitment to philanthropic endeavours is truly admirable! She possesses an innate ability to connect with everyone, especially kids, and make this feel cared for and valuable. Numerous instances have arisen wherein parents of these school children would reach out to her, seeking guidance on various aspects of daily parenng. This school in partnership with the Rotary Club, has successfully carried out several cochlear implants for kids. Your family has played a pivotal role in supporng your career and leadership journey. We would love to hear more about them and their influence and contribuons. Rendezvous with Leader10

Rendezvous with LeaderProcrasnaon, lies, and negave mindsets are among the qualies that Mr. Deepak Saxena disapproves of. When asked about his likings, he responds, "I relish leading a disciplined life, embarking on global travels, indulging in music and poetry! As a maer of fact, I derive immense pleasure from reading and composing poems, which has greatly enhanced my understanding of diverse perspecves on life and circumstances. My university provided me with a plaorm to nurture my passion for poetry, and many of my poems have been published! This pursuit has granted me insight into the depths of the human psyche, which proves invaluable in my professional endeavors.”The son of Ms. Pushpa and Mr. Onkar, Mr. Deepak Saxena speaks about his family, stang, "I was born in Aligarh into a family of government employees, as my father served in Uar Pradesh Irrigaon Department. He connues, "My life partner Saumya holds a Post Graduate degree in HR and has enjoyed a successful corporate career even aer our marriage. She is the author of the book Scoring is Boring" Mr. Saxena pauses for a moment, reflecng, "We strived to raise our children to the best of our abilies. Undoubtedly, the happiest memory was the birth of my children and the profound feeling of holding them in my arms for the first me.”Mr. Saxena regards Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Mr. Ratan Tata as his foremost role models, finding their simplicity and humility truly inspiring. When Team Kalpatarang asked him about his success mantra, he says, "Seize the moment, think creavely, adapt connuously to changing mes, and empower your team. My advice to the younger generaon is to lead a disciplined life with integrity, use your presence of mind, and set goals for yourselves without losing focus."As a closing remark, Mr. Saxena expresses, "I urge everyone to support and encourage their fellow individuals, provide them with sound guidance, and allow them to take the lead. Let us always uphold human values and maintain a posive outlook.
