In March, we proudly celebrated Women’s History Month with our Sip and Serveevent, which directly supported our annual Prom Day celebration. YPG partneredwith GRL PWR and Miss Caribbean Los Angeles to provide the volunteer supportneeded for several key Prom Day projects. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous YPG member, we enjoyed delicious food, and together we collected over 50 donations of accessories and shoes for students.YPG member Cory Radtke generously served as our bartender for the day. We alsoassembled makeup kits for Prom Day swag bags and created “Date with a Book”packages to encourage a love of reading among our Prom Day attendees.A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and donated items to help makeProm Day special for the students we serve. This organization was founded by tworemarkable women, and during Women’s History Month, we honor all thephilanthropic women in our membership community. May we continue to uplift, inspire, and empower each other to do this important work.

In June, we celebrated Pride Month with our Stretch and Serve event, with the helpof the Los Angeles LGBT Center. After reaching out to the LGBT Center for insights on the needs of LGBTQIA+ youthin LAUSD, we learned that many face homelessness or foster care due to lack offamily support, and often struggle to find gender non-conforming clothing. In response, we included information about the LGBT Center’s Gender Non-Conforming Closet in our Pride Bracelet Kits for the Foster Children's ResourceCenter, ensuring that youth ages 0-21 who can’t find suitable clothing have accessto the Center’s Rainbow Boutique. We also included a brief explanation of the Prideflag’s colors to educate youth about the meaning of the Pride flag.A big thank you to everyone who attended, helped create 100 Pride Bracelet Kits, and donated amazing Pride-inspired clothing for the Foster Children’s ResourceCenter.
