June 2022 Something Big For Families JULY 9th Do you have kids Teenagers Elementary Junior High Maybe you have grandkids or neighbor kids You are definitely going to want to invite them to FAM BLITZ at First United Methodist Church on July 9th FAM BLITZ is an interactive show for the whole family that invites and encourages participation The point is to provide a wholesome and fun opportunity for families to grow together and in their relationship with God With the theme of inspiring families to think like a team parents and kids participate on stage and from their seats in a variety of games and challenges A Biblical message is woven in throughout games and crowd challenges with no dedicated preaching time That means never a moment where the crowd is asked to simply sit and listen It is a high energy event that the whole family will enjoy FAM BLITZ is free and we will provide lunch following the event In order for us to prepare we are asking families to register Please go to www fumcvictoria com children to register or use the QR code below This is an exciting opportunity for FUMC families but it is also a great opportunity for outreach to the community Help us get the word out As you see information on social media please take a moment to share the videos and invitations Tag some people that you think might be interested in attending As emails are sent think about who you would like to forward them to The future of our community and this broken world rests on the shoulders of our children let s do everything we can to encourage and strengthen their relationship with God as we strengthen ours Blessings Pastor Wade July 9

Re NEW was WONDERFUL Our Girl Scout Troop 6012 News The scouts have been working on their summer meeting plans and have a lot of fun STEM activities planned We will be building terrariums engineering containers for an Egg Drop Experiment and learning about GERMS The girls have also decided to use their cookie money to go on a field trip to the Texas State Aquarium The scouts are excited to learn about marine life and how to protect our bays and oceans We are also very excited to announce that we are growing Since the beginning of this year the troop has gained 3 daisy scouts and 2 brownie scouts The range in ages allows our scouts to learn from their peers and to teach their peers It is always a wonderful experience as a troop leader to watch the sisterhood bond form between the girls For our Summer Service projects Troop 6012 has decided to collect summer clothing for the VCAM Free Clothing Store they have signed up to serve at Dinner Church on August 3rd The girls will be serving Lasagna Bread and Salad We hope you will come out and meet these wonderful young ladies W E N e R nd the next e t t a o t y d a Get re Women of Faith Needed Were you a former girl scout Or do you just love seeing pictures of our sweet girl scout troop Are you interested in leading our girl scouts on a Faith Journey Our girl scout troop will be hosting a Faith Journey for the local Victoria girl scouts and they need your help We are looking for women from our congregation that would be interested in meeting with these young ladies to discuss their faith the girl scout promise and law and how to continue to grow in their own faith This ReNew focused on the importance of prayer Thanks to Ashley Bonnie and Katie for sharing the impact prayer has had on their lives We laughed cried sang and praised God for his faithfulness If you are interested in volunteering for this please get in touch with Kristen Heller at kristen_1806 yahoo com Supplies needed for projects Terrarium Project We need 24 two liter soda bottles Miniature boat race Girls will be designing a miniature boat with recyclable and racing against one another in a baby pool Items needed Plastic water bottles plastic food containers butter tub sandwich meat container Plastic cups Styrofoam popsicle sticks straws plastic utensils wine corks small aluminum pan dish etc Egg Drop Experiment Foam of any kind packing foam Styrofoam water bottles old pool noodle toilet paper rolls bubble wrap small carboard boxes cotton balls pringles cans Baby wipe container paper cups plates bowls rubber bands etc

ATTIC Youth News School Ministry Field Day ors eni S s n o ti tula Congra The School Ministry Committee wants to extend our thanks to the entire congregation for the love support and donations that allowed our church to Be The Church at Shields Elementary and Methodist Day School We had a fabulous year and many activities that would not be possible without YOU 6 6 End of the year pool party UMYF every Wednesday night from 5 30 to 7 30 pm School every Sunday at 9 30 am Youth Sunday Youth Mission Team leaves for Little Rock AR 6 19 Rides are always available June 22 July 27 NO UMYF on Wednesdays If you re interested in joining us plese contact Andy Jett to get more information at andyjett fumcvictoria com Pastor Amanda Pastor Amanda Leandra represented FUMC Victoria at the Schorlemmer Elementary Career Night They had a great time letting kiddos know what it means to be a pastor and that girls can be pastors too May was a busy month We celebrated all our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week with sweet treats every day of the week The mentoring program focused on expectations and challenges for our students as they move into junior high and we ended the year with a pizza party and played a super fun game together And the entire school enjoyed their Field Day We provided inflatables a dunking booth games and concessions for the entire school FUN was had by ALL Special thanks to every partner in ministry that made the 2021 2022 a huge blessing

Girl Scout Member Spotlight Meet one of our newest members Nytalia Hook Nytalia is 5 years old and is already on her way to being a model scout She earned her Daisy Promise center after 1 week in scouts by learning the Daisy Promise and reciting it from memory Nytalia is kind and always greets her sisters and leaders with a smile and a hug Her favorite thing about Girl Scouts is learning about the environment and learning how to make useful items like her homemade birdfeeder Her favorite meeting this year was our Cinco De Mayo meeting where we learned about the history of the holiday and made some Mexican Crafts Nytalia is excited for her first year in Girl Scouts She is ready to learn and earn as many badges as possible VCAM Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry News Summer weather is here whether we like it or not Put yourself in the shoes literally of the homeless who now have to battle another element Not to mention the mosquitoes if when it ever rains Of course staying out of the rain is just another battle the homeless endure just to survive another day The VCAM Family Closet clothing store is a vital resource that the homeless population come to because they have no shoes socks or just for a change of fresh clothes We do offer laundry card vouchers to the homeless to wash what clothing they are able to carry w themselves The battles that the homeless endure daily are the luxuries that we sometimes take for granted or not even give a second thought to Hesitate to judge for we do not know the struggles that has placed them in their current situation Socks shoes undergarments items our Family Closet is constantly lacking in Consider a church business family or neighborhood drive for these much needed items to donate to our ministry Welcome New Members Sound Team Members Needed You are in control with your own reserved seat pew It is much easier than it looks really Sit with a Sound Team person and see what is involved then sign up to enjoy Contact Jan Scott scottx3 suddenlink net Fisher Kaylea Saige Leita with Pastor Wade Alana Kaye Lindsey Scott Jan Leigh Robert Bonnie McKay with Pastor Amanda United Women In Faith For our May meeting Kathy Hunt concluded our study on Bearing Witness in the Kin dom Bearing witness to suffering is disconcerting Being present with persons in the midst of suffering makes us aware that all is not okay in the world We discussed how the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women have responded to the moral challenges in the world around us on issues such as climate change racism poverty and how we have also failed on these issues What are ways we can meaningfully participate in the future God might prefer for our church We will not have a meeting in June For our July meeting some of the youth will be our special guests and will tell us about their mission trip The quadrennial Assembly of Women of Faith took place May 20 21 Harriett Olson our CEO addressed the women in person and via Zoom She asked where can we be in 5 or 10 years What does it take to get there Impact sisterhood and personal commitment Our core values remain the same but communications are of different styles Through many names the organization has come to a new brand She asked us if we are ready to live the vision
