Weekly Social Art & Creative GroupsSTARTING JULY 2025Commencing in July, Toukley Art Gallery willrun various Social Art groups every weekday.Each class will run for a duration of 3 hours andwill be mentored by experienced artists. Youcan join in at any time, work your own pace andwork on the project you want to do. Our SocialGroups will be a wonderful way for creativepeople to get together and have fun. Learn newart forms, create something new and have a lotof laughs along the way.Cost is $10 for members…not a member?You can attend 2 lessons to try-it-out butwhy not join up and benefit from ourGallery’s many events and happenings. Mondays 12-3pm Acrylics for EveryoneWe meet every Monday to create and learnfrom each other. Bring along an acrylic projectyou wish to work on or need advice with. Bringall your usual painting gear and have fun. Youcan cruise along at your own pace and someweeks we will concentrate on a specifictechnique that you may like to learn. Tuesdays 9.30-12.30 Drawing & Works onPaperJoin anytime with this lively group and learnthe building blocks for art. Many areas arecovered from pencils to charcoal, colouredpencils to pastels. This is always a busy class sobook ahead. Wednesdays 9.30-12.30 Anything Goes-any medium welcomePaint the morning away with your latest project,this is a general painting group with participantsworking in oils, acrylics, watercolours and mixedmedia. Bring your painting supplies and worksurface and have funThursdays 9.30-12.30 Creative Crafts Be a part of our craft group where our mentorsare multi-talented and can cover a vast array ofcraft applications. All you need is the project youare working on and all your supplies to do thetask. We also offer some weeks where we willfocus on specific types of craft for you to learnsomething new. Fridays 12-3pm Wonderful WatercoloursSuch a popular medium and we have created agroup just for you. Each Friday you can spendtime with like-minded painters and share ideas,tips and advice. Our experienced mentors arethere to guide you through anything tricky.Bring your watercolour supplies and get going!

The students willlearn about the history of feltingand how it was discovered , thentry their hands at placement ofthe wool fibres to build upthickness and colourcombinations. Thisis where local artists open their home orcommercial studios to talk, demonstrate,and hopefully sell artworks to the public. Our gallery is on the trail!! NEXT EXHIBITION: Create Your FutureOur Create Your Future Exhibition is starting atthe end of July. So don't forget to check out thedetails on our website about the entry details.The exhibition is for our members to exhibittheir talent so don't forget to submit your work.Can't wait to see your new works!Don't forget to ring and book a time todrop your entered artwork off and to pickup your current artwork, if beingexhibited.We are very pleased to announce that Handcrafted Giftware items will now stay in thegallery for up to 6 months. You can sign out items if needed. So, no bi-monthly changeoverwhich will make life a lot easier for Jenny and her wonderful team. The shelves will be re-arranged monthly, and you will be able to re-stock when convenient.Just get the office staff to check that your tags match the information written in the greenfolder.First time exhibitors of any Handcrafted Giftware will need to liaise with Jenny Rogers prior toexhibiting.The maximum number of giftware items on display will remain at 25 and be at Jenny’sdiscretion. Payments to exhibitors for sold items will take place bi-monthly.If you have any questions regarding this new system, please email the gallery and mark itAttention: Jenny Rogers.This new system only applies to Handcrafted Giftware, Cards and Unframed - Hanging artand sculpture will remain with the changeover system. Renowned Landscape artist Peter Tassellis the respected elder of our society. Hehas been a painter and mentor for over 50years. Peter first learned the signwritingtrade at the well-known firm of HenryRousel Art Studios, in Sydney, whereartists were employed. After finishing his five-year trade coursePeter continued working at the HenryRousel Art Studios for another two years,then moving out to the suburbs findingwork with Sinclair Signs and gainingfurther experience. In 1970 Peter established his ownsignwriting business, eventually beingable to also continue with his artwork.Meeting up with fellow artist andsignwriter John Perkins, Peter wasfortunate to then be able to further studythe Art of Oil Painting. Eventually Petertravelled to many parts of the country,sharing his creative talents with manyothers. TADAS welcomed Peter as a member in May2000. He has been a mentor and a highlyrespected tutor at local art societies on theCentral Coast and with the gallery’s SocialArt Group on Wednesdays bringing his skillsand knowledge of painting with oils.
