WE NEED YOUR IMMEDIATE HELP!As we continue to push back on the false narratives around the country, the FOP has developed our own commercial for social media to help push the facts to the public. This video is done in the same manner as our previous successful commercials on use of force and WEP. It highlights recent polling that confirms the overwhelming majority of Americans support police officers and do not support police being defunded or dismantled. We want this video to reach as many people as possible. It is now live on Facebook and twitter, Instagram and Youtube. Can you please make sure that you, your state, your locals lodge and every member is aware of this commercial and share/like on Facebook/ Instagram and like/retweet on twitter. We will also be sending out a push notification “Call to Action” and posting the commercial in our mobile app, this way we can mobilize the nearly 6500 members who have downloaded. The links are as follows:• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GLFOP/videos/636363346980170/?vh=e&extid=CyCoCRHxlKTmqtTX&d=n• Twitter: https://twitter.com/glfop/status/1284155364435464192?s=21• Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/tv/CCv4wKglaVY/?igshid=1ek6i02wvi52k• YouTube: https://youtu.be/yWSHHcy1QIMThis is an all hands on deck situation as the bigger this commercial goes, the more people will get educated on what is actually going on with the American public. Thank you all in advance for your support and effort in making this push.I would like to close by thanking Vice President Joe Gamaldi for his hard work on this powerful commercial. Next week you will see additional commercials released by the Fraternal Order of Police. Please be sure to share and retweet as well.Stay Safe, Patrick YoesNational President

Amidst all the budget conversations, We have had several inquiries about the hazard pay policy put into effect by the civil service commission in April. This FAQ sheet should address those inquiries. If you should have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.Q: Has metro defunded the Hazard Pay plan because of the budget shortfall?A: No, the policy was approved by the civil service commission in April and is still in place. The dollars allocated to the plan are federally funded for this specific purpose so it cannot be used for alternative purposes such as funding budget shortfalls.Q: Why have I not received hazard pay in my check?A: According to the federal program, the hazard pay must be incorporated into an existing policy. The metro government has funded this via the existing bonus policy. According to this policy, hazard pay must be paid at the conclusion of the period in a lump sum check.Q: When will the term end?A: That remains to be seen and will be determined by the city administration. It is still open. According to the federal policy, the latest it can go is Dec 31, 2020.Q: When did the term begin?A: For Police and Fire employees, the term began on March 16th.Q: Is there a cap?A: According to metro HR, there is no known cap.Q: How much is the hazard pay?A: The policy pays an additional $3.13 per hour for every hour worked, to include overtime. This EXCLUDES any overtime worked through the secondary employment unit. Tornado patrol and Pandemic patrol hours will be paid hazard pay.
Last month, the Metro Council approved a budget that, as you know, froze step increments but did reclass the P02 grade from PF04 to PF05 (see table below). Per metro rule, whenever an employee is reclassed, they will slot into the next closest step in the higher grade (you cannot lose money). The rank of Sergeant and above received a reclass several years ago and officers did not. We are aware of the compression issue presented and have discussed it with H.R. The Mayor’s office has stated that reclassing supervisors will be a budget priority next year.
After a call for action from former President Obama, on June 15th, Mayor Cooper announced his intention to form a commission to review the MNPD use of force policy. He has indicated that he will appoint individuals from a broad base with varying backgrounds so that all voices can be represented in this commissions work. We welcome a review of our departments stringent Use of Force policies. Just as we were already compliant with each of the 8 can’t wait principles, we are certain that our policies will stand up to the rigorous review of any reasonable group. The FOP has asked Mayor Cooper to include the perspective of law enforcement and the FOP on this commission. We look forward to participating in this process so that the critical voices of law enforcement can be heard and our expertise on the topic as well as our perspectives can be shared.
On March 3rd, we all woke up to a Nashville that had been devastated by a tornado that tore through the entire county. While our officers worked diligently to serve the community and get Nashville on its feet, the FOP manned the tactical snack truck to ensure you were well taken care of during the long hours. Special thanks to our friends at Mission BBQ and many other community members who donated hundreds of meals each day to ensure you were well fed on the job!
There is no question that law enforcement is facing challenging times. Hundreds of pizzas and thousands of hamburgers later, we are so proud to have had the opportunity to serve you during such difficult times and will continue to do so when called upon. Special thanks to 2ndVice President Allen Herald and Delegate Jim Sullivan for spending several days cooking. We would also like to thank our partners with Long Hollow Baptist Church, Hunt Brother’s pizza and the many police families who helped us coordinate several dinners and snacks for the large group. We could not have done our work without these folks helping out!
