The JOHN RICHARD Memorial Endowment Th e J o h n R i c h a r d Th e J o h n R i c h a r d M e m o r i a l E n d ow m e n t M e m o r i a l E n d ow m e n t Through the Congregational Foundation the Richard family established the John Richard Memorial Endowment in 2006 to honor John s lifelong love of music and theater Praise God with the lyre make melody to God with the harp of ten strings Sing to God a new song The Endowment awards annual grants to National Association of Congregational Christian Churches NACCC active member churches of 200 members or less that are planning a fine or performing arts event in their church To apply fill out the Richard Memorial Endowment Application form found on our website at naccc org and email fax or mail it to NACCC office Applications must be postmarked before the stated deadline to be considered Grants up to 500 will be awarded All funds will be awarded in May and must be used for programming by April of the following year Psalms 33 2 3 John C Richard 1960 2006 Grants available for Fine Performing Arts Events The sixteenth child in a family of twenty three John was a lover of music film and the theater all of his life A talented singer actor and director he sang in various choruses church choirs and ensembles

Th e J o h n R i c h a r d M e m o r i a l E n d ow m e n t Financial support is also important Please consider a contribution to the John Richard Memorial Endowment Your gift provides invaluable opportunities for arts programs at NACCC small member churches Theater creates sacred space in which our beliefs and behaviors can be transformed through the distance and objectivity it provides Theater was in Christian churches from early on and even today the simple rituals of Protestant worship services have elements of this ancient art form in them John saw acting and directing as a way to take people out of ordinary time and connect them with the past and the future Dr Thomas Richard From Our Grant Recipients Mission The funding was used for a Winterfest Christmas Concert This year thanks to the grant we welcomed the Laingsburg Community Singers and the Laingsburg Jazz Band to the meetinghouse to perform for the community It was easily the most powerful positive activity of the year First Congregational Church Laingsburg Michigan Our director selected Godspell Jr as our flagship performance and it was by every measure a success Without this support we would never have been able to create such a wonderful and meaningful performing arts program Second Congregational Church Warren Maine Vision
