COMMUNITY ARTICLE Parents as Partners The Key to Student Success Understanding and engaging in all aspects of your child s life can be overwhelming With rumors about crazy things happening in schools circulating national media platforms it s hard to feel like your efforts are making a difference The truth is parent engagement in education can have one of the most profound impacts on student success How can you be involved and learn about what actually takes place within the school walls We re here to help Open lines of communication early and often School buildings are often a flurry of activity where staff members are focused on caring for their students during the day Communication with parents sometimes comes as a secondary part of their jobs While it is critical for teachers and schools to communicate with families parents should also know that communication is a two way street Providing the school with contact information is crucial and schools may also request information about your preferred communication channels and any insights about how to best assist your child Make sure to provide that information and don t hesitate to pick up the phone and reach out if there is anything you think your child s school needs to know Ask the questions Not sure how to help your child with their math homework Unsure about what is really being said during those puberty discussions Want to understand why your 4th grader needs to learn about how to make butter The answer is likely simple and readily available Schools can t possibly communicate about every aspect of the school day but teachers and administrators are more than happy to provide Kool Minds 1 4 Page Vertical REIMAGINE PEDIATRICS Frontier 1 4 Page Vertical CAN YOU IMAGINE Same day visits just walking in to get help Personal service from locals you consider friends Top notch quality care for your child Kids actually having fun at the doctors office At Frontier Pediatrics Partners we are Reimagining Pediatric Excellence CALL US TODAY 208 595 5095 www koolminds com 8 www southernidahokids com

COMMUNITY ARTICLE information when parents ask for it In most cases schools can provide a parent with a copy of their curriculum to review if the parent has concerns about content If you hear a rumor about something that is happening in schools on the internet just give your child s school a call and school staff members will provide you with accurate information Generally schools will welcome parents into the classroom to see what is going on Volunteer Speaking of going into classrooms even if you only have an extra half hour in your day your child s school will likely have some need with which you can help Whether it be helping with recess duty reading to a small group of students or helping share your career or educational pursuits parent volunteers help make schools truly robust learning communities Attend the events Schools host back to school nights reading math nights choir concerts and so many other after hours events While not everyone can make every event attend as many as you can especially those connected with the academic content These parent engagement nights provide an opportunity to learn from the experts about fun ways you and your family can all practice important learning skills at home Partner with schools on the challenging issues From time to time all students will have challenges in school It might be behavior issues or struggles with a specific learning concept Be prepared to partner with your child s teacher and school administrators to help overcome these challenges Sometimes these conversations are hard and many times a parent s help is needed to reinforce appropriate behavior at school Keep in mind that these staff members are here to help and want to find supportive ways to keep your child and all children learning Eva Craner Public Relations Director Twin Falls School District HAS A NEW HOBBY SHOP UPSTAIRS Toy Town 1 4 Page Vertical MODEL TRAINS ROCKETS PLASTIC MODELS RC CARS TRUCKS DISC GOLF DARTS MORE Orange Leaf 1 4 Page Vertical 725 BLUE LAKES BLVD NORTH TWIN FALLS ID 83301 208 944 9276 15 OFF ON FROYO SHAKES FLOATS AND SMOOTHIES Please present this coupon for discount Not valid for any other discounts one coupon per customer Valid at the Orange Leaf TWIN FALLS location only Expires 01 31 23 1 2 3 6 B L U E L A K E S B LV D N T W I N F A L L S 725 BLUE LAKES BLVD NORTH TWIN FALLS 83301 ORANGE LEAF ID TWIN FALLS 208 944 9276 January 2023 9

COMMUNITY ARTICLE How Do Snowflakes Form Snowflakes form when water vapor travels through the air and condenses on a particle This begins to form a slowly growing ice crystal a snowflake There are two basic ways that the vapor can condense and each way plays a big role in the shape that the snowflake will eventually take It s starts with a facet 6 sided prisms then as it falls through the air it collects vapor particles which create the arms of a snowflake Here s how to make a snowflake from scratch using the scientific method 1 2 3 4 Start with a white piece of paper and cut it into a 6 sided shape Cut several pieces into rectangular square or even circle shapes Glue the different particle shapes to the facet 6 sided shape Optional glue to a black or blue piece of paper or hang up with a string Title One 1 8 Page 1411 Falls Ave East Suite 1131 Horizontal 208 933 2650 TitleOneCorp com Epic 1 8 Page Horizontal UNLIMITED MEMBERSHIPS STARTING AT 20 MO MULTI CAR VETERAN DISCOUNTS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK 221 POLE LINE RD E TWIN FALLS WWW EPICSH INE COM January 2023 15
