CPR ProgramPictured here are Officer Cote and Ms. Redmon. Ms. Redmon is stepping in to take care of her grandchildren after a family tragedy left them alone. Through the FOP's CPR program, Officer Cote was able to help her buy groceries and other necessities as she starts this new venture. What a great opportunity to build bridges with our community! Great work Officer Cote!

Earlier this month, the FOP submitted the following letter to Mayor Briley ahead of the 2019 budget season. We are actively meeting with his staff to discuss the items listed and will keep you posted on progress made.

Earlier this month we asked you to take action on this legislation. We are happy to report that your efforts were effective. We expect the legislation to be amended to include public employee protections. Thank you for taking just a few moments to contact your legislators when we ask. It truly makes a difference!

HB0658 / SB 1407The House and Senate versions of the bill are conflicted and will go to conference committee in the hopes that there can be a resolution. The FOP supports HB0658 as amended but does not support SB1407 as amended. We will be watching the progress of this legislation very closely and keep you advised.

A message from yourLodge TrusteeBrother and Sisters,My name is Brandon Tennant and I have been employed with the MNPD for almost 10 years. Currently, I am assigned to the Juvenile Crime Task Force. I have been an active member of the FOP since the first day of graduating from the academy. This is my second year holding the position of Trustee on the Executive Board. I am grateful and appreciative that you have entrusted me to represent the members of this lodge.I am also a member of the Andrew Jackson police youth camp committee. If you are not aware, our lodge operates a summer camp for underprivileged at-risk children from the Nashville community. Typically, the children we bring to camp are those that we, as police, have interacted with throughout the year and we feel would be suitable for the camp. There are three boys camps and three girls camps that operate through the summer months with around 40-50 kids per camp. This camp is available at absolutely no cost to the kids or parents. The counselors that attend the camp with the children are our officers from the MNPD along with other volunteers. I am proud to say that I have attended the camp, as a counselor, since my first year on the department. If during your daily activity you come in contact with a child that you feel would be suitable, please feel free to contact me and we will get the necessary paperwork to you to sign them up. Also, if you feel as though you would like to participate as a counselor please feel free to contact me and we will try to find a camp with an open counselor position for you.In closing, I hope to see you all at one of our upcoming monthly meetings, which are scheduled for the first Monday of the month at 7:00 P.M. We as an organization are always looking for our members to become more involved.Fraternally,Brandon TennantTrustee
