Young Women s Preparatory Network Our mission is to support single gender college preparatory public education in Texas and beyond giving young women the academic and leadership skills to achieve success in college and in life YWPN formed the first public private partnership with the Dallas Independent School District in August 2004 opening the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women s Leadership School the first all girls public school in Texas

The Power of the Plaid is a fundamental part of our school culture In support of academic excellence and to instill a sense of unity pride and an appreciation for sisterhood and the Power of the Plaid students at the Irma Rangel Young Women s Leadership School are required to wear the school uniform

Leadership Dress Mondaysor YWPN Sponsored Field Trips HS Every Monday students are required to wear the Irma Rangel Dress Uniform which consists of the following Plaid Dress Skirt or Nice Dressy Slacks Must wear plaid ties are acceptable with plaid design Red or Navy Dress Polo shirt Undershirts Must Match Shirt Navy Shell Jacket or Navy Cardigan 9th and 10th Grade Navy Blazers REQUIRED for Juniors and Seniors See Ms Perez or Lewis Plain solid black dress shoes no white on shoes White or Navy socks knee or ankle length NOT thigh high Navy or white hose or footed tights No leggings

Fridays Only Spirit Fridays Students will be allowed to wear their Rangel spirit crewnecks and t shirt with uniform bottoms navy pants will be allowed beginning September 6th Accredited College or University Wear will be allowed to be worn No Hoodies only crewnecks or tshirts Incentives for Jean Fridays and free dress will be throughout the year and will be announced ahead of time

DISD SECRURITY AND BADGES Once ID Badges are issued they must be worn around our students neck in a way that is visible at all times Rangel students should not deface their ID badge Nothing should cover their face name or ID number If students do not have an ID badge for any reason they will need to get a temporary badge in the morning The first ID badge is free but replacing ID badges will cost students the following Temporary badge 1 Lanyards 1 ID badge 5 Both the ID and the lanyard 6 No Dollar collateral your cell phone will need to be turned in

Badge and Safety Violations Badge ViolationsAll badges must be worn at all times Temporary Badges will only be given before 9 10 a m in the main office Any student without a badge after 9 10 a m will receive the following consequences a 1st consequence verbal warning b 2nd consequence phone call home c 3rd consequence phone call home revoke Friday Privileges d 4th consequence Lunch Detention referral process begins e 5th consequence After school detention f 6th consequence Parent Conference referral review

DISD Cell Phone Policy For safety purposes the district permits students to possess personal telecommunication devices such as cellular phones and pagers beepers However such devices shall not be visible and shall remain off during instructional time unless approved by the teacher or administrator Cell Phones will be taken up if seen in the hallways during passing periods all students Earbuds will be taken up if seen in the hallways all students Middle school students cannot use during lunch The District is not liable for lost or stolen cell phones

DISD Cell Phone Policy The FIRST TIME a cell phone is confiscated students may pick it up with no fee assessed after the end of the instructional day Parent contact will be made The SECOND TIME a cell phone is confiscated an administrative fee of 5 00 will be charged before the device can be returned along with parent notification The THIRD TIME a cell phone is confiscated an administrative fee of 10 00 will be charged before the device and parents guardians may pick up the device The FOURTH TIME a cell phone is confiscated an administrative fee of 15 00 will be charged before the device can be returned along with parent notification Phones will be turned into the Ms Mendez in the Main office

Attendance for Credit To receive credit or a final grade in a class a student must attend at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered A student who attends fewer than 90 percent of the days the class is offered will be referred to the attendance review committee Once you miss over 4 class periods not days then you must begin making up your time This includes both excused or unexcused absences Early pick up or late arrivals that are not excused will count against you This includes calling or texting parent to come pick you up early Nurse can only excuse you to go home when sick at school

Grade Failures Any student who misses more than 2 assignments will be subject to Mandatory Thursday School Tutoring with Ms Brown Counselors or Ms Rojas Academic Parent Conferences will occur if you are failing any classes Students failing two or more classes including absence failures could be subject to withdrawal of field trips or grade level privileges

Code of Conduct School Lockers Must be kept clean and clutter free Any locks used will need to be documented by your advisory teacher such as combinations Lockers in restroom need to be kept organized and stocked Use just what you need If you want to donate anything please to see Sra Martinez in room 240 Cyberbullying will not be tolerated We are a sisterhood and if a problem arises we figure out a solution together Report any bullying to any adult or your counselor Consistent bullying can result in DAEP removal and removal from Irma Rangel Vaping will not be tolerated This is an automatic DAEP removal for 20 30 days and could result in your removal from Irma Rangel
