2101 Pump Road Richmond, VA 23238 dbramsey@henrico.k12.va.us Note from the Director MILLS E. GODWIN HIGH SCHOOL BANDS A 13-time Virginia Honor Band Derek Ramsey, Director of Bands and Orchestra Thank you for joining us to celebrate the Godwin Marching Invitational! Since the inception of the Band program at Mills E. Godwin High School, thousands of students have learned the art and pageantry of marching Band. We are proud to showcase the amazing Bands participating here today and invite you to sit back and listen to the culmination of the hard work and dedication of the Bands on our program. There is not a harder working group of students than the groups that you will see here today. These students put in countless hours to attempt to perfect their show and their craft. There will never be a perfect show; however, these aspirations of working together for a common goal will translate directly into everything they do in school and beyond. Marching Band is the most team-oriented activity there is available to students in high school, and they all rely on each other to give their absolute best every day. There is no bench in the marching Band! To the directors & the students here today, thank you for putting yourself out there on the field to showcase all your hard work & commitment. Your family and friends are proud of you for what you’ve accomplished. Let’s have a great Invitational! Sincerely, Derek Ramsey Director of Bands and Orchestra Performing Arts Department Chair Mills E. Godwin High School
